Black with white logos.
Maybe with coloured spacers under the stem if they're needed. The bottom part will be right next to the front brake, so anything more colourful will clash with the clownforce...but white logos to keep it a bit louder. Tbh I tried all sorts of things on photoshop and nothing else really worked.
At some point I might upgrade the baseplate and top-cap bolt to ti.
Baseplates and top-cap bolts are serious business as well!

Speedplay question:
Does anyone have experience with using ebay / Orient Express spindles?
Thinking of upgrading to colourful ebay titanium and was wondering if there are any recommended sellers / pitfalls to avoid, etc? Also I guess it would be good to know how difficult the operation is likely to be.I'm not fully committed to the idea - I just saw these spindles whilst digging around for something else and thought "yes please":

Not rainbow, but yes I've replaced cromo splindles with ebay Ti ones, it was relatively painless. A vice helps

Cheers... I've developed many vices over the years so that's music to my ears!

Scanning back through the thread and can’t see whether you opted for ISP or seat-post in the end?
Disclosure - trying to work out the recommended clamping torque for my second hand one. Currently going low and don’t fancy a surprise slip when I’m out without a torque wrench
-
• #389
Decided to go without in the end - I think some people have had issues with paint cracking so Saffron only offer raw carbon ISPs. I prioritised pretty paint over weight savings!
No idea about recommended torques I'm afraid... maybe someone else knows?

Wasn’t very clear in the first message. The one I’ve got uses a pinch bolt between the seat stays which I think is a bit of a Saffron signature. Was wondering if you’d gone down the same route. I should probably just send Matthew an email

Oh I see, sorry!
I guess just go with whatever the seatpost manufacturer recommends? Not sure tbh.Mine will probably have the hidden-bolt thing too... although I heard somewhere it's quite a heavy way of doing it so might change my mind.
Amazing someone was selling a Saffron, lucky you finding one in your size! Full pics?

I got very lucky with a response to a wanted ad on here. Seller mentioned being careful with the bolt torque but not a number
Have made a couple of changes to the build lately and only have a picture of it half submerged in a hedge. It was Matthew’s bike originally so there are some far nicer photos on the website

Wow - that's lovely isn't it?!
Kinda cool to have Matthew's old bike too - little piece of Saffron history right there.
And those Easton wheels go so well with the paint job too.Maybe shoot Matthew an email to ask him about the torque.

Maybe silver is better after all...? You have sowed the seed of doubt now.
This is impossible!edit: every bike should have cubist hubs as well.

I think it'll work well with the paintjob, which is quite light after all. Plus there's silver on the brakes too.
What I really look forward to though is the thunderbolt spokes.

Indeed, this is a technological innovation I've been working on for some time now.
It should make cycling far far far more dangerous, and is sure to take the industry by storm. -

Green would be more tempting if you could get matching hubs and headsets... don't forget hubs will be carbon-ti and they don't make both so it would be impossible to get a decent match
: (edit: I'd probably want to stay with CK anyway tbh...

Been looking at Carbonworks / Alpitude cages for a while but not persuading myself to spend that kind of money... then found these knock-offs on AliExpress. They look decent enough and are reasonably priced (abut a quarter of the cost of the originals: £22 ish instead of £85 ish each)
Never ordered from AliExpress before though... is it easy / reliable?
And am I likely to get burnt by import duties etc?
