Can we at least agree that this level of risk adversity is too much?

Also chart of the day that has surprised me, showing antibodies from sample taken from blood donors
https://twitter.com/PaulNuki/status/1413175289350397957
Guess it makes sense as majority of blood donors will of been jabbed at least once if not twice

That chart is great, shows many different things.
Biggest take away for me is that it suggests that 90% of UK adults have antibodies. This is a stat that I was told on Wednesday evening by a v senior friend in the civil service. Nice to see the data it came from.

25% want to close nightclubs and casinos, and 19% want a 10pm curfew, permanently?
-
• #22584
Apparently yes

What is a sealing club?
Google(Ecosia) suggests seal clubbing :_( -
• #22586
Bonkers. From a small sample I think.
Apparently 40% of 16-24s support the permanent closure of nightclubs vs 17% of over 54s. Boomer clubbers represent.

Doesn't the graph just show that the sort of people or who give blood are getting the vaccine, rather than 90% of the public have antibodies?
Unselfish cunts.

Hi All,
Apologies if this is a bit of a ramble! Its great that everyone has their opinion, I fully respect the FU my family are vulnerable you are a c*nt view/every 'vaccine hesitant' is a White supremacist (This ones completely wrong btw)
First let me explain that I like to think I am not a c*nt, I have a very close family member who I would consider in the extremely vulnerable category so my decisions are not off the back of a couple of google searches. I have spent considerable time making the decision I have and its not been taken lightly. I really do hope my decision is the wrong one and no one comes to any harm because of it but I am standing by it and I feel that the minute increase in absolute risk to other people is justified.
I am not an anti-masker and I have full respect for maintaining peoples personal space.
I assume that everyone here maintains their Vit levels to ensure they have the best natural defence against catching viruses. I mean you are a selfish MF if you don't right?
I also understand that we as a nation have been bombarded with negative repression over the last year and a half so we will grasp onto any glimmer of hope to get through this.
The reality is there are so many layers to this discussion that its mad to think every individual should all 'get on board' and take the jab for the good of humanity. As i've said previously i'm not antivax is any shape or form and I would certainly recommend it for those that are most vulnerable, where the benefits outweigh the risks. This Vaccine isn't approved yet, issues such as ADE will only start to come to light as time goes on. We all know that this is a worldwide issue so imo we would have been much better off vaccinating those who need it here and then giving the rest to other countries before we even consider vaccinating an entire population (sorry for my opinion). I mean there are a lot of arguments against blanket vaccination anyway.I was lucky enough to listen into a conference of world leaders discussing the vaccine and I did not come away from it with the impression that this rollout was based on any form of solid scientific foundation. I mean our Government have been top class throughout this entire process right! Oh and big Pharma, top guys right! They absolutely have the wellbeing of the people at the very top of their list right! (£££££).
Even a small investment from the government into positive advertisement around health and wellbeing through this pandemic might have helped instead of a campaign of fear. I won't even get started on how some of the mass vaccination rollout costs (£££ viral advertising alone) would have been better spent on helping to prevent the Cancer Tsunami and depression/suicide crisis thats coming. Both of which will have probably affected all of us at some time in our lives right?edit: One last note. All those calling me out for my decision I sure hope you didn't partake in any eating out to help out last year!

If you want to encourage vaccine take-up, then I suspect understanding why those who are refusing are doing so is likely to be the first step in a more effective plan.
I think - based on a hunch, not data - that most of those refusing are doing so because they perceive themselves to be at more risk from the vaccine than the disease. Disregarding for the sake of this post any arguments about selfishness etc, the AZ blood clot news stories and the European reaction did huge damage there IMO. To those not familiar with how stats work (which is most people) it created a perception that this was rushed through and not properly tested. That promoted distrust, which makes such people much less receptive to any rational scientific reasoning. To mangle D.H. Lawrence, the tale doesn't matter when you don't trust the teller.
(To clarify, that's not my view: I'm simply trying to work out in my own head what's going on in others').

Can you see through the irony from up on that high horse? You haven’t even enquired why they have that opinion but you’ve dismissed it and are now mocking Greenhell.
I feel bad for the mocking. Sorry @greenhell, I will do better in future.
I'm not sure I can spot the irony, I'm not disagreeing with him that some people aren't worth engaging with.

where the benefits outweigh the risks
And on basis are you identifying the benefits and risks? Research, science and epidemiology or guesswork, 'impressions', and cheap digs at pharmaceutical companies?
I mean there are a lot of arguments against blanket vaccination anyway.
Name one.

Yes.

There was a recent episode talking more specifically about Covid vaccines and how they won't work while all the cockwombles fail to get jabbed. It was put in a much better way though - encouraging the worried to seek out the information they need to make a better choice. I'm still of the "fuck them" opinion but I see how that's not so effective.

Silence on internet = frustrated disagreement but cba to engage anymore???
Yep. You are right.
Also how often can you actually change someones opinion.

You're taking away my freedom by making me wear a mask!
But the freedoms being removed by a certain bill don't get a fucking mention. Now that IS taking away your freedom.
Also can someone explain the issue with wearing masks, I do understand the cost implications, and for some can cause panic/serious anxiety.
hippie.
