Sometimes my genius scares me - I can use my Park third hand cable tool to pull cable ties tight, then the flush cutters to snip off the end. Sayonara to one pretty large tool.

Honestly my Park BT-2 and Knipex flush cutters do a perfect job in my recent test.

Also, that cable tie tool is overkill, but someone could say the same about this one.

You mean like a cheap nail clipper to achieve the exact same effect?

And to add, i currently flush cut my cable ties with a cheap craft knife or Stanley blade. I have to justify to myself very strongly before I purchase a tool just for cable ties. I've been considering it just because I'm cutting tons of them recently, still haven't pushed go on any of them yet.

Edit: Also, I just pull the cable ties by hand, never had an issue.

Sometimes I think I like looking at the job-specific tool more than the idea of having it. 🤔

Fine, get some Harperton one then, they enable you to not need to files down your nail as well.

I just checked some out but they came with a built in file.

Yeah I didnt know that japanese tool was a thing until now.
It's tempting but hard to justify as I use cuticle cutters to trim zip ties down.

Still, it's not very much cash for something that would no doubt be very satisfying to use.

The one I have cut my nail and feel like I don't need to file it down, it's already nice and smooth, which work even better with zip tie, as I like to have a little bit of zip tie sticking out than completely flush (this can result in it breaking off if the hose/housing got caught).

A good pair of side cutters if all you really need IMO, Tamiya or Godhand;)

Are you trying to attract bad luck with that Magura sticker?

I know this is strictly not bike related, but... It's lovingly machined, and the actual cork screw is a blade rather than being a coiled spike.
