  • Thanks to @dicki for pointing out the copake annual bicycle auction! I ended up winning Anthony la paglia’s (without a trace and daphne’s brother in frasier) trackshark.

Shipped it over with sendmybag.com showed up in great condition in 5 days from rural New York State to an island off Orkney! Charged half as much including import charges as bikeflights did so would definitely recommend. Think the original intention was for overseas students but they’re doing sports equipment and things now too.

Anyway.. it’s gorgeous and would really like some help trying to identify tubing and lugs if possible. It’s got a cinelli bb shell if anyone knows what tubing slawta was using when he was using these?

  • When it was listed at the auction it was listed really poorly so I’m not quite sure if they quite knew what they had.
Said something along the lines of
“Cinelli track shark with regal saddle and vittoria rubino tyres”
Because of the photos I couldn’t quite make out what a lot of the components were so had to just wait and see what showed up. Definitely a pleasant surprise last night! The wheels are profile racing track hubs and think they may be old velocity rims (although I’m not quite sure) which have never been braked on.
Got a Chris king threaded headset that looks pretty much new. Set of suntour superbe pro 165mm cranks with the engraved logo which look rarely used. A Thomson setback seatpost and regal saddle and I think a cinelli 1a stem(?) and possibly 3ttt record competizione superlegerro handlebars(??)

  • What a find, absolutely gorgeous, and great components too!

  • I’m so chuffed with it bud!!

  • wow, you must really have wanted this bike, lots of time and effort gone into getting it across here
    congrats
now the fun bit, time in the saddle, whats orkney like for riding brklss fixies, can you do laps of the island or something ? and how's the fixed gear scene up there, you got a posse to roll deep with ?!

  • Thought the blue stickers on the seat tube were just auction house stickers but it’s a California bike licence and another sticker from a California bicycle rental company, no idea who’d be renting this out for the day to folk!

  • Yeah uh huh, soon as I saw it I was a little in love with it. Think it was that pointy rear bridge and I’m a sucker for a pink bike too..
It’s actually not bad here! I’m on one of the smaller islands and there are some hills and things but they’re manageable and then most of the rest is relatively flat going past fields of sheep and cattle with the sea behind them. Doing right to the north of my island and back with a couple wee detours and side roads is only an hour or a bit more. Met a few fixed riders up here through the lbs (cycle Orkney if you’re ever up this way) but there’s no scene or anything to speak of. Have always ridden mainly on my own though so not missing group rides or anything.

  • Great bike dude. What size is it?

  • Those Ca bike licenses are a fond memory. Such a strange system.
    Amazing find.
Correct paint job, pink and green ftw.
    V jealous.

  • Thank you! Was listed as a 24” but think that might have been a ctt measurement rather than ctc, haven’t put it together or measured yet to double check

  • What were they for? Was it like a car licence or for insurance purposes or something? I know right, can’t argue with a green to pink fade!

  • Maybe ex-hire bike at velodrome.

  • Liking the look of this one a lot. Plenty of character and a good smattering of components.

    Got any plans for changes?

  • Honestly can’t remember-Think it’s local area specific and meant to encourage maintenance.

  • In one of those strange cosmic coincidences, I have also previously purchased a very poorly listed item owned by Anthony Lapaglia on Ebay; this Stussy leather jacket he wore in shit 1992 vampire move "Innocent blood"

Does anybody else own secondhand items from this rugged Aussie/Italian thespian?

  • That could be a good shout actually!

@lowbrows ahhh, going to try and do a little reading into that today, cheers!

@rcbprk thanks, and a really nice level of beaten up but not too much either. Dunno, I always think white finishing kit looks good with bright frames so have a white concor supercorsa, some white toshi double straps and possibly some white bar tape kicking about somewhere, quite a few climbs on the island too so might switch to some bullhorns I’ve got rather than the drops too?

  • Hahaha no way that’s amazing!! Do you still have it?? I’d love to send him a picture of me riding his bike in his jacket, although that’s how charges begin being raised isn’t it..

  • Unfortunately not; went to a Stussy collector in Japan for $$$ when I then listed it properly :)

  • Haha fantastic!! Wonder if our Tony has been having some hard times recently..?

  • Understated and wicked. Love it. Only thing I'd change is to lose the bent poast - never liked them.

  • Yeah I really couldn’t be happier with it! Know what you mean about the post though, got one on my steamroller and does make for a comfy riding position but not really a fan of the aesthetics of them. Also, this one feels a bit too “new” to be on the bike and think I’m going to search around for a more traditional looking post in keeping with rough frame age I reckon

  • Nitto post, maybe!
Incidentally, never heard of the bloke before today; did it really belong to him? Or am I missing the pun?
    Well jel BTW!

  • Ahh, yes apparently it did, just had a look at the auction website; every day's a school day!

  • Haha I kind of wish a la paglia was some kind of postmodern slang for something, but no, just an ok actor..

Nitto post could be a shout

  • Wee closer inspection has uncovered that they’re shimano horizontal dropouts which I hadn’t seen before and a possible frame number..
