Anyone any recommendations for a SS/FG Audax frame/bike? Idealy steel.
Looking for clearance for 28s with mudguards, racks mounts (no essential), drop bar, canti or calliper, double bottle bosses, horizontal drop outs.
Spa Cycles do their Audax Mono but just wondering what else is out there?

  • Genesis flyer 2014-2021

  • Considered the Flyer but loving the All Day! Top recommendation! Thank you Farewell! Thank you both!

  • The Condor Tempo looks like it might be suitable.

  • Thanks Nick. The Tempo is lovely but big bucks. It will make a fun build a bit too heavy on the funds.

  • I think you’ll struggle to find anything better than the Spa mono. If you went with the steel forks you can add as many mounts as you like. Win win.

  • the only issue with Spa mono is the geometry, too long and low

  • Granted you’d need to run a whole load of spacers or a gooseneck stem, but I think that fits the style of the frame 100%

  • I’m getting rid of an almost new flyer in small of it would be of interest?

  • Thank you all. Some good info and some stuff I had not considered re the Spa Mono. - too long, too low.
Could be that the Brother is the main contender? Not available until August.
Thanks BJF re the Flyer but I need 56/58.
Also considered the Charge Grater SS but can't find one. Not steel I know but ticks other boxes.
    Any thoughts on the Grater??

  • I also have a 56 (56.6TT) grand wagon frameset up for sale. High end steel and everything listed other than rack braze ons. I’d be keeping this one if it wasn’t too long for me.

  • An old rim brake Genesis Day One is probably a bit too 'off road'?

  • Thanks all.
The Day One is too off road for me, but thanks for the suggestion.
    Hmm! Like the look of the Kona though BJF;
    120mm rear spacing?
Will it take 28m tyres with mudguards?
    What money are you asking?
    Toaster included?

  • Yes to everything except the toaster. Looking for £400 posted. Its made from high end dedacciai tubing. I think it may be chromed all over. There is no rust on the steerer and the non drive side has a small chip and it’s chrome under there. It was NOS a few weeks back but unfortunately I can’t use it as it’s too big.

  • Thanks BJF. It is a lovely frame for sure and has a top retro look but I think I am going to hold out for now. I'll message you again if things change with me.
Thanks again and good luck with the sale.

  • Not a problem. I don’t need to sell it, just I need to sort out my bike part hoarding.

  • Ah, ok! Just for my info, where are you based? Thinking of collection if things with me change.

  • Cornwall but apparently everyone is coming here on holiday so maybe you are too?

  • No plans to ATT but that could change! Will keep you posted.
