Sorry(notsorry) for boring mum car post but: i need a roofbox or bag for a Qashqai. Has side rails but no bars. Will probably only used a couple of times a year. Do I spend on bars and a box or go for a cheap and ugly waterproof bag?

i think mashface has a roofbox in the scuderia broccoli garage that he is trying to offload

Orly?! Ta bud. Will knock for him.

Nah, I'm using it again.
But I do have some Thule roof bar feet for rails that I no longer need.
Can dig out the model numbers for you if interested?

Naw worries. Is a bag a bad idea so we think?

I have some roof bars for rails I was using on the Panda (surprisingly wide) if anyone needs. For free.

Aero jobbies, but not Thule.

I'm looking for something cheap while we wait three months for the car we actually want. If anyone is selling something that would suit LMK!
-

Ooh nice. Will hit you up. I'm in that London a couple of days this week too...
-
• #65511
Definitely want to pick one of these up one day!

In-laws neighbours said their bag was crap and became not waterproof very quickly. They now use a cheap box and bars and say it’s miles better.

My car is doing my head in.
Things wearing out and breaking- latest thing to malfunction is the ignition barrel/ anti theft lock which I’ve had to source from France, also looks like the starter motor is on its way out...
ffs more £ I haven’t got.
Buyers regret big time -

But it is great when going.
Can you do the work yourself? Can you remove the barrel and repair or replace the tumblers?
-
• #65515
Possibly...!

I’d think that regenerative braking would lead to an electric car producing far less brake dust than a conventional car
Cross post from the EV thread:
As a conscious "experiment" I monitored how much I used the foot brake vs regenerative "braking" during a 61 mile journey the other day. Mixture of dense urban, countryside and motorway road use:
I used the foot / caliper brakes precisely once during the outing: whilst I was reverse parking on returning to my house.
So, from a brake dust perspective, EVs do seem to be almost infinitely better.

Time is a great healer!
It’s more that I could’ve bought a lot better car for the money I’ve spent and that is my own fault.
If I sold it now I’d be making a big loss so holding on to it is the best thing to do but then something else breaks! -

Any VAG geeks know what these are called?
It's an interior trim screw which you can unscrew with your hand instead of a screwdriver.
Just changed my cabin filter and one is missing (as well as an interior trim torx). Bit annoying as it could only have been someone servicing at some point over the years as this is the first time I've done it.

you just need an extended run where nothing goes wrong to get you back on level.
but glad you are not reaching for the panic button. and hope it doesn't break the bank in the meantime.

At a guess you didn't see the ds in Folkestone for 1500 quid.. or the ds at the other end of the scale at 40k.

When I was driving the Tesla S I very rarely used the brake but the car would panic brake on sunny days when driving into a big shadow. Passing tall HGVs or under bridges. I would warn passengers that it might happen and it nearly always did. It was a 2015 model so I wonder if newer models are better now.
Nice, but it's no breadvan
