Road bike and Mk1 Golf are equally excellent

Haha yes I was going to mention the golf! It got more attention than the bike in the group chat

I've only just seen this thread thanks to @funky_d, I have two fixed bikes, a Roberts 531c road frame converted to single speed fixed with front Shimano brake. It actually has full braze ons for brakes and front & rear gear mechs as well as mudguard eyes. Can only get 23c tyres on with guards fitted.
Also not quite fitting due to the lack of brake hoods is my current latest project Bianchi Super Pista...https://www.lfgss.com/conversations/364706/

Nice bike, but my eyes are drawn to that Austin Ambassador in the background!

A neighbour bought it to go with his 3 other cars and his campervan. It’s OK because no one parks outside mine as it’s just the allotment.

Austin Ambassador
Not as rare as a Lamborghini Diablo, but getting there

Lovely. How do you get on with fixed and time road pedals? I rode them for a bit but snapped a carbon blade slowing down once and can't trust them anymore.

Been using them for maybe 3 months. No issues apart from squeaking. I may go back to speedplay.

Just off to do a little credit card tour of the Hebrides and Skye with my girlfriend. Took the Panaracer SK’s off and put on my favourite tyre of all time; Conti 4 Seasons in 32mm.

Lovely bike. I hated Conti 4 Seasons when I tried them years ago - I found they were very puncture prone and grip was unpredictable in the wet. Have they changed or did I get a duff pair?
-

I was about to mention this, Im also not the biggest fan of them. Just find them quite slow and dead feeling, however I never found them lacking in grip.
Had more punctures (1) than my GP4000 (0). I dont think this means much. :) -

I posted my bike so everyone could tell me how nice it is, then you post this… Day ruined!

Yeah, at the time I was running Rubino Pros on my fixed and GP4000S on my road bike and I liked them both very much. I treated the fixie to a pair of 4Seasons and I was really surprised by the grip thing. It wasn’t to do with the ultimate amount of grip, it was how the grip would suddenly disappear in the wet. They were really quite hairy on anything remotely slick - while I found the Rubino Pros were much more communicative and you could feel where the grip was and how much was left. The 4Seasons would be there and then suddenly let go.
Plus they punctured three times in a fortnight on really quite small bits of grit.
That's lovely
