Is anybody else finding the coverage of the Giro donne, frankly, insulting? Merely an hour programme and they spend most of it looking at a bunch of nonentities milling around the finish line, or long lingering shots of the scenery. I know that's the fault of the television director, but surely Eurosport could have a word? It's really not a good advert for women's cycling
The race organisers are a shower of shite too. They couldn't even put up a timing board at the finish of today's tt stage -

yep and, to be honest, the actual racing has been too one sided. You could say that for most of the UCI women's season as well.

Sadly, that is the case. Reminds me of the old Star Series races Eurosport used to show
But, the racing is only ever going to improve if you encourage more wimmin into the sport and I just don't see coverage like this being the way to do it
I put the ttt on th'other day, and they seemed more interested in showing what the tv director was doing in his (of couse) booth. They didn't even show the winning team.
And yesterday's itt was the ideal opportunity to show more of the lesser lights, as it were. I gave up, with no intermediate split and no timing board at thd finish, it was nigh-on impossible to tell what was going on -

Apparently Sagan is moving teams to Total Energie: https://www.wielerflits.nl/nieuws/peter-sagan-en-specialized-tekenen-na-de-tour-bij-team-totalenergies/

Thoughts after today?

You sound delighted to be rubbing my face in it. If that makes you happy, I’m glad to have obliged.

Sorry not at all. Was juggling dinner.
I meant more do you think the writings on the wall or just a one off bad day type thing? -
• #35985
Ha ha. I thought you were being a bit salty.
Who knows. There could be a hundred reasons. Both he and Soren Kragh Andersen are far better climbers than Cavendish so it’s either fatigue, illness, saddle sore, off day or a combination.
I haven’t seen that much of him drilling himself on the front in the last week like I have at previous tours but they doesn’t mean he hasn’t been working hard.
It must feel odd for the whole team to be working hard and not being able to make a difference.

Ha not at all took me ages to find the conversation, hence the then short comment.
I still have a slight nagging feeling that he’s going to be the sort of rider that becomes less relevant. That he has maybe been on the wain a bit too.
Not sure today really substantiates any of that but it does add a little to that feeling.
Compared to both Giro’s this team don’t seem as happy, which of course is to slightly be expected given the situation.

I’d like to have seen him focus on the classics for a couple of years. He’s probably running out of time now.
-
• #35988
I think G should have done the same - maybe still will, of course
-
• #35989
Yeah will be interesting to see what’s next.

I think Rowe missing the time cut, presumably due to him going too deep in the first half of the stage to set up a Carapaz attack that never really came, is peak Ineos at this Tour. It's a good job the B team are superior to the A team.
-
• #35991
Well at least ineos are finally doing things differently!
-
• #35992
Ride on the front all day, and the only result is you lose your road captain to the time cut. I don't think the mood will have improved much tomorrow, but maybe they will start letting riders go in the break.

Expect the unexpected. You can’t say DB doesn’t deliver.
(Apart from G crashing.)

G doesn’t strike me as a particularly inspiring leader.
Carapaz at least has his stare of death. -

Their is a nice piece of tao stopping to meet a bro and give him his bottle on vento.

Decuenick Quick Step will be Quick Step Alpha Vinyl next season.
He's still infinitely preferable to John Inverdale. Luckily he doesn't commentate on t'cycling. Then you'd know what shite commentary is
