I want both ideally - navigation, but with some basic monitoring on show. Seems to be a feature that others have requested on OSMAND.
My HRM is ant+/Bluetooth, but iPhone is only Bluetooth.
On a related note, it is unclear to me from online resources whether hardware like the Garmin edge can show nav and things like HR at the same time.

with the edge series you have a series of screens, you can show data fields on the map page, you can choose what data fields to display

If you are navigating a course, the Garmin will beep and flash up turn prompts and a map of the junction even if you are displaying a data-only screen. Assume same for Wahoo, etc.

Ride with GPS can do all of this BTW - well worth the basic subscription and it's monthly too in case you don't like it.
You can attach bluetooth HRM, speed sensors etc.

OSMAND is really a navigation app not a bike computer app, does your device support ant+ as well as bluetooth, is your HR monitor bluetooth or ant+.
depending on your answer as to which app will be suitable,
