Wanted: Replacement screws for Garmin HRM

Just in case anyone has a broken Garmin HRM3 or similar laying about – I've just about stripped the godawful tiny screws in mine so would welcome the opportunity to replace them. I tried emailing Garmin a year or so ago and they said my only option was to buy a complete new unit – great!

Stripped the screws and not the case?

Can you not go to one of those fastener shops and get new screws? I've got loads of dead electronics here so could something be used from them? Can you share a pic of what they look like? (I hate throwing stuff out that works so would be good to find a solution)

Morning – yeah, the heads themselves are pretty soft (or maybe I've been using a slightly undersized screwdriver); the case seems fine.

Just measured one screw with my digi calipers and it's 4.5mm long, the head is 2.85mm wide and the threads are 1.47mm wide in total. Pics attached.

Wouldn't know where to start as far as fastener shops but any advice much appreciated; I'm in north London if that helps!

Yeah, I collected fucking hundreds of those when I used to disassemble electronics for the LOLs. Wrong country though but I reckon I probably still have some lying around here from DVD players and similar I've pulled apart.

The go to bricks and mortar shop in London for fasteners is Clerkenwell Screws.

Just had a quick look and the ones I've found aren't skinny enough (story of my life). I'm sure I have more around here but no idea where. If I find them I'll measure them too.

Thanks again for the comments, folks. For future readers, Clerkenwell Screws was a fascinating visit but they don't do screws that small, sadly! I ended up first going to a mobile repair shop near here and getting a couple of ex-iPad screws, before then finding someone on Fleabay selling little packs of "Garmin HRM replacement screws" which look a bit different but seem to be fine.

Crucially I also found a different set of screwdrivers with free-spinning little bits on the tops of the drivers, so you can press nice and hard while turning them and avoid stripping the screws in the first place. A+ would recommend.
