  • Aye, this looks great/perfect and the capacity is fine. But will I be paying a chunk more to import it as well?
Probably very slightly stretches the budget if it gets more expensive.

  • will I be paying a chunk more to import it as well?

Shipping won't be cheap, but tax won't be too bad as it will just be 20% UK VAT instead of 19% German VAT.

Hyundai do a "Silent" oil-less range which is a bit louder than Implotex but much cheaper, and there are UK stockists.

  • 213mm headtube and forks with a 265mm steerer, is that workable?

  • What kind of headset and stem?

  • 1 1/8 external one, haven't got a stem yet but ones with a 35mm clamp height look quite common?

  • ones with a 35mm clamp height look quite common?

Not common, but available. The go to EC34 headset is 28mm total stack, so you really only have 24mm for the stem clamp, maybe 28 if you shop around for headsets. To give yourself a sporting chance of finding a nice stem in the right size, you want at least 42mm

  • TL;DR: The steerer is too short

  • Cheers tester!

  • Ah amazing, think a Hyundai model is what I'll go for. Thanks!

  • Can anyone recommend a bike hire place in the general vicinity of Ventoux for decent high end road bikes? All I’m finding at the moment are mtbs, e bikes and mamil chariots

  • When did M12 become 18mm across the flats, rather than 19mm?

ISS still showing the old dims and my skinned-knuckles and wallet are miffed: http://www.impactsocket.co.uk/special-tool-service/size-chart.html

  • When did M12 become 18mm across the flats, rather than 19mm?

When you moved out of Germany; DIN says 19mm, ISO says 18mm

  • lol

But fasteners have to be EN 15048, so ISO dims.

And ISS have stopped making the 18mm podger, that they once did.

Not as head-scratching as BB standards, but really...

  • Does anyone know what this jacket is? It doesn't seem to match anything POC have made.

Hoping it's a disguised Gabba/Perfetto/equivalent, as they are no longer made in small sizes.

  • No idea but I've got a rad once worn Cannondale drapac skinsuit in a small that could do with a new home...

  • Thanks but I'm not really a skinsuit kind of guy

  • Depends exactly what you mean by decent/high end (and general vicinity of Ventoux!) I suppose, but Hubert at Luberon Biking (in Velleron) has more than his website suggests. Maybe worth emailing or ringing (speaks a bit of English) to find out.
    https://www.luberon-biking.fr/

Or https://www.provence-bike.com/en/ in Avignon have a load, but only used them for tandems/ebikes before.

I don't think these guys go in for massively informative websites...

  • Thank you, I’ll give him a shout. We haven’t booked our place yet but we’re looking at places within 35-50k of the summit so fairly close. The bike I’d take is a Tarmac SL6 so something close to that with discs would be nice. We’re going with our toddler son so unfortunately the bike bag would just be too much of a ballache for 7 days

  • selling a pair of headphones on fb marketplace

potential buyer messaging, asks for more pictures. Wants a pic of the serial number. I've tried to think about anything nefarious they could do with it, but can't.

    Any suggestions?

  • I'd guess they want to find out if the headphones are a genuine item or a fake.

  • or to clone a legit SN for off-knocking purposes?

  • @Cupcakes i guess - but it would be pretty unusual for these to be faked (i think) - they're not super high end or anything

@greenhell - what would this look like in practice?

  • i have no idea i was just speculating. it's worth remembering that i am a fucking idiot and can be safely ignored on any number of topics.

  • I don't have an instagram account and, about 50% of the time, Instagram asks me to log in before I can look at it. There appear to be loads of sites that scrape instagram but most look a little dubious. Are any of them actually OK?

    • I have a fastmail email account and a hotmail email account - which my google account is linked to.
    • I use the fastmail for stuff I care about.
    • My calendar is tied my hotmail email.
    • I have an android phone.

Earlier I was sent a meeting request to my fastmail which I accepted on my phone. I cannot find it anywhere.

    Where could it be?

    Cheers.
