Thanks for the RD information, I'll give this derailleur a go and see how it handles the bumps.
I've been on FB market place a bit more than usual lately, and was lucky enough to pick up a couple of deals:
- SLR saddle with carbon rails. While white isn't my colour, I enjoy the shape.
- Shimano DA to Mavic Open Pro wheelset. Can't go past this combination!
Getting closer! I have a set of tires on the way from a local shop, and a chain from AliExpress which I've been thinking of trying out...

Love the low profile of the rims. What tyres are on order?

I agree, not really a fan of deeper rims in general.
A pair of Vittoria Cross XN. Look like they would be appropriate for the type of riding I want to accomplish with this bike (Tarmac-Hardpack 60:40), and they were cheap!

This is going to look great once done

Well, here it is. I've definitely been missing out by not riding more relaxed bikes!
Things to change:
- A headset from a more reputable brand (Cane Creek 40?) as the eBay special is garbage.
- Rear derailleur with a clutch (SRAM GX) as mentioned earlier in this thread.
- Small and simple front rack (Nitto M18/M1B/Bento) so I can lug my skateboard around.
- A headset from a more reputable brand (Cane Creek 40?) as the eBay special is garbage.

Cheers guys, it's been a lot of fun thrashing around on it!
In other news, I impulse purchased a thrashed Scapin road frame from FB market for pennies. The reason why it was so cheap was that I've counted three dents (sizable TT dent, 2x smaller chain stay dents) and it has had a 'touch up' job done on the original paint.
Anyhow, after a few hours of rubbing with Acetone I was able to get the frame back to its original paintwork. It's not pretty, but I do like the ratty look.
No idea how I would like it built, MGOOF is always fun but I think I'm leaning towards flatbars and trigger shifters
Watch this space.

Scapin? I'm in.

Any progress on this?

Checking in for my yearly update:
Scapin - NOS skinny steel forks, Cane Creek HS and a Syntace F99 (my favourite threadless stem). Stumbled across the Spingy wheelset on FB market place for AUD$80, even came with the original manual and warranty card! Its a shame the front wheel is busted.
Still no idea what I want to do with it though...

I love the pink ‘un

I would try a carbon repair kit on the front wheel if it was me. I mean, what could go wrong?

I like your style! Can't be too hard right?
Good info!
What would you recommend? The world of MTB rear derailleurs is quite confusing...
