We're talking about a guy who became mayor by organising a racist police riot against the incumbent mayor. He was always a shit stain.

displacing the Italian mafia to allow Russia/Ukraine mafia to move in
Further fixed

Reminds me of one of those threads people have been posting for the last five years by that guy who always gives chapter and verse about how Trump is definitely getting arrested tomorrow.

Seth Abramson
Who, in my opinion has always been bang on the money with his factual investigations but a bit optimistic in his predictions about interventions and consequences.

in bed with / hock to Russian state sanctioned / supported (or just an offficial department of) mafia, and installing them in place of a weakened Italian mafia.
Fixed even further

Obviates the fact that bankers giving trump loans are shady shits themselves.
The MD at DB knows full well that Trump is cooking the books, but they also know how to prevent their own compliance and credit officers from finding that out, all while pocketing a fuck ton of bonus as commission from the sale.
(Also remember that DB is up to it's neck anyway)
The loans are unlikely syndicated, so no oversight or due dilligence from other banks - except maybe, you guessed it, dodgy Russian money.

Oh, @TW...

Is this not how most financial auditors work?

I'm not sure what you mean - audit as a function is fairly removed from corporate lending (as a function)

Spot on. He has been bang on the money on almost everything so far apart from his optimism over people being held to account.

Although, to be fair, I've never seen him predict an arrest before, more point out where somebody has pribably broken the law.
Beware the fallacy of origin.

Ok - yes, fair enough - they are separated of course (maybe I should have added "too" at the end). It was a bit tongue in cheek - more a dig at some institutions' records, including DB, of wafting over money laundering, etc. than anything really linked to this case in particular.

That's not to say that auditors (specifically the big 4) don't have a significant conflict of interest.

Quite. I have heard, ahem, their Chinese walls can be leaky at times too.

Well after a mental recovery doing dishes and listening to an instrumental version of that ukrain eurovison song, I managed to finish watching that. Very interesting to finally see a chronological and more or less complete version of wtf actually happened that day. At first I thought amey was joking again with his introduction, but indeed very well made. I wonder though if they implied an independent view by adding an Irish (?) narrator.

It sounds like Dara McInytre - he’s an investigative journalist. I think you either like or hate him (I’m in the latter camp).
The video is very good and worth a watch.

Are you mocking my english? Don't mind if you do, I think highly of your sense of humour and it's one of the reasons I loveguss. It's just that as a non native speaker, I do miss out on a lot of the tongue in cheek that goes around on here.

So he is a regular for these things and you don't think it was delibarate for the doc to be narrated by a non-american? Sorry, I am very gullible for these kind of theories (I know I'm an idot but I need confirmation from time to time).
