He's only 22mo, I carry him!

• #4578
That's what I did when it was only number one, but number two still wakes up a lot.
Early mornings might be the way to go but everyone is already up at 6.30 in this household.

Thanks, can you also say something about my weight so I lay of the beer?
-
• #4580
Give me all your beer, fatso
-
• #4581
Yeah, I try to but he’s grown out of the front carrying child seat so need to look into a rack one or go all out and buy a cargo bike.
-
• #4582
That’s always been hard for me but might actually be what I need in the long run.. from ultra cycling to personal growth.

Can’t too busy fucking up this thread because I can’t multi-quote.
Always welcome to one or more when you’re in Belgium though.
-
• #4584
Anyway Belgian beers are ultracycling fuel. How do you think I do so many ultras?
-
• #4585
Oh....even easier to drop then! ;)
Extra gainz tho for carrying.

People’s situations will very greatly.
Bit as above I’d try compromise an enable your partner some me time too.I have two kinda strategies plan plan plan but also take opportunities when they come. Also look for times that are either protected or that put yourself out a bit.
I often go early 5, at the weekend as I can get out quicker before they are up. Recently with WFH situation I’ve got out after bed time get back at 11 ish. I think leading by example ie not a perfect time for you also shows it’s importance to your partner. -

I think most of the good advice has already been given so this is mainly repetition.
I didn't ride for the first few months after our daughter was born. Right through the first year it was very disrupted. I remember dns-ing quite a few events I'd entered after we had had a bad night, so it was mainly informal / solo rides.
But daughter is 4 now so things have settled down a bit. So I can ride, but certainly less than I used to before she was born.
I usually do early mornings, 5am starts, both at weekends and through the week. This works as I do evening pickups from nursery and my wife does morning drop offs and, at weekends, neither wife nor daughter are early risers.
I make sure my wife gets her time. She plays tennis and I try to work it so she can play twice a week - once at the weekend and one evening - which is what she wants.
We have regular discussions about what we want to do and what is /isn't working for us, how we can accommodate each other's needs.

It looks like @samuli 's Finnish end to end record might be broken tonight. There's another guy going for it who has just nosed in front and who apparently has a tailwind.

Yeah, chapeau! By 31 minutes, with a time of 61h 7 minutes.
I knew there was some time to be taken out of the record, when I set it I knew it'd be a record anyway if I finish, so was playing it safe to some extent to make sure I finish, but still had to dig very deep and bettering that is huge. He had a tailwind for the last few hundred kms where I had headwind, which is where he made the difference, but the weather wasn't exaclty on he's side either as there was some kind of a storm in the area he was riding before that.

Well done to him.

Lot of racing going on at the moment. Sunday it's Transiberica's TransPyrenees with a few strong racers. Ulrich probably in front again but very curious to see what the rest of the podium will look like with Sofiane, Omar and Christoph.

Lachlan's Alt-Tour was probably mentioned already on the forums (tdf thread) but somehow I missed the fact that both he and a team car (aka the peloton) have a tracker so we can dotwatch who is in the lead. With todays short TT stage he's got a nice lead and is on Friday's parcours already.

People who've used Spot trackers, have you had one in your jersey pocket and was it ok signal wise? I don't really have anywhere that suitable on the bike for one so just wondered. Could also fit in my cargo bibs pocket I suspect.
