all this boiling the frog chat brings me to my little green machine. MOT pass yesterday and picked up this morning. One little advisory which I will attend to.
but kinda wasn't expecting any problems as when looking at the mileage history see it only did 365.4 miles in the last year. as 2020 was a leap year that isn't even a mile a day. Covid you wanker.
it will see more action this year. it already has as I took it on a quick joyride round some village lanes. and fucking loved it.

Had this so many times, you literally NEARLY see it happen, then they drive off and you can't get them, usually have actual damage though FML>
Successfully caught one that reversed into a hire car I had, parked in a really good spot, woke up looked out of window with coffee in hand to see person straight up reverse into the side of it, then slowly drive away, could see them looking out making sure no one saw them.
Legged it round other side of one way system and caught them 'No no, I wasn't driving away, I was looking for a space to park so I could come back and put a note on it'.
mmmm, yeah. Was only mild dent, £80 for a dent repair mobile job, but with hire car company ways of working it did cost them quite a bit (heard all about it months later). -

I just get, "Find Your Next Car" with a big arrow pointing to the search box, like I'm some kind of idiot. So yeah, probably targeted.

Haven't driven that far south in the UK motorway network for 18 months (obviously), notes....
1) Lane discipline is worst I've ever seen. Lane 2 seems to be perma occupied by a french hatch/suv type car doing 58mph
2) Same as 1), but lane 3 seems to have a lot of more expensive looking SUV going about the same speed, just sitting out there all day long, trucks often going quicker in lane 1
3) Less miles driven = road crews have caught up with the damage and fixed up most of the bad spots I remember, SMOOOOOOOTH
4) More police traffic marked + unmarked (that I noticed) vehicles.
5) Apart from 1) + 2) average speeds higher**Normally bomb long distance in the bluemotion as it'll do a genuine 75mpg at a genuine 70mph, so often sit at indicated 80 (real 73mph) sitting just over 70mpg real all day long. Going slower it'll run into the 80s very happily, but most of the benefit of that car is being able to keep up with motorway traffic, not get noticed so much by traffic police and achieve epic mpg.
But last few trips running at an indicated 80mph = I am defo one of the slower ones out there. Kinda puzzling given the extra traffic police presence. -

I get a grey box because I've got an adblocker, meaning it's definitely targeted using cookie data. Smart.

I drive London to various places on the South Coast early on Saturday/Sunday mornings quite regularly and the average speeds are unreal. I've lost count of the times I've been overtaken by someone doing what seems like 120mph+, definitely a much more regular occurrence since the first lockdown.

hmm I cleared the cookies (using EditThisCookie plugin) and also have adblocker, still see the same image

Probably just pulling your device ID now for continuity. It's definitely dynamic and persona based.
I've just disabled my Pihole and refreshed. The element is pulling directly from doubleclick as an ad unit so it's using GA360 data to determine persona then serve a relevant hero banner. Mine is to win an Electric Mini which would probably be pretty relevant given I frequent EV forums / news etc.

interesting, would love to see their whole image bank for this

WeChillAnyCar
- Came at the start of the allocated time slot
- bit of Q&A
- did their magic
- at the end explained that the oil and gas were low. Also noted that the flow rate was way too low and I needed my polen filter changed and told me where to do it locally.
- A/C gone from 18° to 2°
- 40mins soup to nuts
- £60
I know I didn't have any leaks or require replacement parts, but based on the service received they were great.
Other general pointers he mentioned were:
- run on cold for a good 5mins at least once a week
- at this age (~10yo) AC should be serviced once every couple of years.

£?

£60 for the service. Then if work had been needed they give you a quote with a £50 call-out charge that gets deducted... which is confusing, but I take to mean £50 minimum for labour.
As I said the big thing was them coming to the door. One of us needs to use the car most days at some point over the next 3 weeks, so taking it somewhere wasn't very practical. Especially for something none urgent we could live with.
He said that the loss of gas was due to the age of the car, and that you have some leaking over time. Given what he said about making sure it's run at least once a week being in my mums ownership prob didn't do it any favours as I think we've but almost as many miles on it in 3yrs as she did in 10. Iirc it had something like 30g of gas when I should have had 500g.... It's all on a little sheet somewhere.

Is there going to be any difference between this Bosch activated carbon cabin filter and this Crosland activated carbon cabin filter?

Crossland are Euro carp parts.
See what your local GSF/parts alliance place if they do a purflux one.
-
• #65470
Ah the bigger micra ;) so shares bits with the clio series2 too?
-
• #65471
Noticeable difference? Unlikely.

.

Potentially - not entirely sure on that one but would make sense. Either way, I've always found parts fairly easy to get hold of.

Abs sensor replaced on the e46. Now for the annoying bit where you wait and see if it has solved the intermittent problem.
I’ve cleared the code and a very brief drive hasn’t reactivated them. Got a longer drive home later, hopefully it’ll remain clear. Annoyingly, greasing the contact surfaces hasn’t got rid of the squeak from the same corner, bugger!@Fixedwheelnut any idea about these?

Yes, sorry that is what I was getting at. Sorry if I'm teaching you to suck eggs, Parts are easy to source, best ask on the forums as some places are no help or give the wrong part.
Friend has one, he is a clown and it has been wrapped to look like postman pats van.
Even if you did that you'd still need something else. People view cars as a right.
In terms of boiling the frog, I think you already have that. My folks have had the parking on their street halved so it's only on the opposite side. It's a real fucker and has rendered the lamp post EV chargers useless.
But it has created dedicated segregated cycling lanes. And car ownership in the area has been decreasing anyway. When I was a kid getting spots was a fight. Most families had at least 2 cars. Before the bay removal I can't remember there being less than 3 spare spots when I've visited.
