Deore mech probably has a stronger spring than most road mechs
It's certainly a lot stronger than CeramicSpeed springs. There's probably a some chainstay length at play here too - longer stays = less angle and I guess you're probably not in the smaller cogs so much when heading downhill? I'm a shit mtber so I'm rarely adding speed downhill by pedaling. I find generally have feet planted and use gravity is enough. It's when you're changing gears that you're more likely to throw the chain.
I’m surprised.
I’ve raced very fast, rocky XC with a NW ring and a non-clutch mech and never lost the chain.
(caveat that Deore mech probably has a stronger spring than most road mechs)
