Similar stories from acquaintances here - plus the laziness.
Plus one of my sister's old friends was in the makeup dept on one of the HIGNFY episodes where he was guest host. I am told he turned up to the studio looking normal and proceeded to mess up his own hair and tie before going on.

Strangely, I’ve heard the opposite from people who have worked with him. They’ve said he’s quick to understand a briefing, well-spoken, and retains complex info., and that the bumbling buffoon with messy hair and ill fitting suits is just an act.
