With the plan of learning to drive this year, I need to update the address and my surname on my provisional driving license.
After hearing horror stories about turn around time with the DVLA, is there any reason for me not to just hold off updating it if I want to start learning sooner rather than later?
I've more recently noticed people on car forums commenting how quickly the DVLA have been processing things like logbooks during Covid. Personally, I've never had a problem. Their normal turnaround time is about 3 weeks.
I renewed mine recently and it was actually surprisingly quick. I think about a week. If you have a fairly recent passport, they take the photo digitally from that which I imagine can speed things up significantly. Maybe trying to process and scan physical photos would be longer.
