I mean, I’m definitely the kind of wanker that would make two different pizza doughs but reckon I’m a long way outside the golf clubs other requirements.
I’ve already given this too much thought. This thread is silly. Needs more gentle ribbing about silly purchases and less class war, lol.

Surely at 8.45 on a Saturday a golfist would be driving off the 3rd with Gareth the local solicitor.

You've got a beemer!

I think my 17 year old shitbox/work vehicle is a bit more pitch and putt than golf club, but a man can dream. Time to go buy some sweet plus 4s.

Rocbox is better.

Is this Mashton again?
-
• #1833
No it's bloody not.

I only know ooni because I saw one advertised on TV recently.
-
• #1835
No idea, but I do know there is a golf clubesque rivalry between ooni owners and roccbox owners. The best one I heard/read (may have been here) is that roccbox are better than ooni and you see second hand oonis but not roccbox.

Actually, you watch TV programs with adverts.....how common.

I was going to make that joke but thought it was a bit meta for this thread.
Every now and then something catches my eye and I don't fast forward through them.

Actually, I do have some rather nice aerospace-spec crimping tools. But I did build the wiring harness for my race car, including a 12 channel datalogger, from scratch.
-
• #1839
Not sure fancy hand tools that get used really belongs in this thread?
-
• #1841
I’m going to say crimps that would pass inspection for aerospace use.
Just a guess.

Posh crimpers are frighteningly expensive, but if you're doing lots of wiring looms (and discounting your own labour, which you probably are if you're building your own race car...), they will pay for themselves fairly quickly.

Posh crimpers are frighteningly expensive
Can easily spunk £5k on a good crimp tool. The good ones apply so much force that the crimp fitting can actually liquify under pressure and effectively solder itself to the join.
-
• #1845
Ha ha, just looked up how much the actual splices and terminals cost that you use with those crimpers. Up to a tenner each!
-
• #1846
Ha, I was thinking of hundreds rather than thousands - make that 'terrifyingly expensive'!

If this was chat about a waffle iron, it might count for this thread.

For reasons that I can't quite remember a friend of ours has (not entirely seriously) decided that she wants to give up her job and write a series of murder mystery stories set in the world of golf.
I've already bagsied credit for coming up with the title of the first one: A Bullet Hole in One". I will be watching this thread closely for more money-spinning ideas.

I don't think the £5k ones do anything better or different than the £500 ones tbh. The more expensive ones have just been tested against standards. Its more about ticking boxes for specified standards and consistency than anything else.
As somebody who flies on passenger jets, I find it quite comforting that this level of safety goes into something as simple as joining two wires together.

“Strike while the iron is hot”
It's a tough read. Maybe we could club together and get those pricks some later tickets.
