  • What else are they (UCI) supposed to do? Give them a good talking to?
    Because currently relying on the good sense of spectators doesn’t seem to be ensuring the safety of the riders. And they can’t police every km of road, so how else do you try and deter this sort of thing.

    Personally I doubt suing this fan will come to much but if the thought of it stops another fan from trying to get on camera as the peloton comes past, or causes another fan with more sense to get them out of the way, then maybe it is worth it.

  • Education? Fans have also been away from the sport for awhile.
    I think the statement I read could have been far more considered. I’m not sure threatening legal action prevents stupidity.
    But then TDF or UCI don’t really strike me as a forward thinking organisation generally.

    I find it weird that spectators aren’t held accountable more often. Stupid or uneducated, they’re recklessly endangering others.
