• I've found those miche bbs can be a pain in the arse.

The two halves seem to fit together with a really close tolerance so they are more likely to jam up than say, a Shimano unit.

I think the technique that I came up with was to fit the cups either simultaneously or in small increments, ie don't do the driveside right in then try and fit the nds.

I think they'll also sometimes come apart more than is ideal so that instead of having just a nds cup on it's own and the rest of all lumped together to go in from the driveside you get the bearing stuck in the nds cup and then its a bugger to get that to slide onto the axle nicely.

Assembling and disassembling everything off the bike a couple times and greasing any faces that need to come together or slide over each other might help?

  • I think I almost fucking died today because of this bottom bracket. The NDS was unscrewing itself and I didn't notice. I was coming down a hill and when I get to the bottom I jump off the bike to take in the view. Not two steps later, my cranks completely seize up. The left side of the BB had unscrewed so much that it pushed against the left crank and caused it to lock in place. If that had happen 10 seconds earlier while I was going down that hill I'm pretty sure I'd be dead now.

I'm certain it's because I didn't torque it enough on the left side but any more and the spindle would seize. I think I'm done with Miche at this point.

  • Buy a lotto ticket mate. Glad you’re ok.

  • Glad you’re ok. Get a shimano unXX in there and burn the Miche.

Only it won’t burn coz shite ain’t flammable!

  • TBF I was never on board with your don't tighten it enough to not bind up method, you tighten it up properly and if it's binding up then something else is wrong. But glad you're OK.

  • Serious suggestion- if you want another pair of experienced eyes to check it out, I’d be interested to put it in a frame to see what the issue was/is. I’ll give it back if you want it.
