I've just seen this thread and have no idea what Hip hop slave bikes or hipster sleds even are, but wondering if my latest project would fit in here despite having a front brake as I ride on the road and I'm not actually suicidal...

hey, nice super pista you got there!
the essence of HHSB is, at least to me, that you pair a- track frame of some royalty with
-aeroish wheels of at least 30mm rim height or super narrow oldschool rims (or deep carbon front and skinny tubby rear wheel ) - expensive parts made for track racing
- with some parts originating from other disciplines, BMX stems, riser bars, ridicoulos tri- or fourspokes, ergostems, UCI-forbidden bits
- and a little bit of mix-and-match-mentality.
and I think there are extra HHSBPoints for stuff like:
double tri/fourspoke
front wheel is deeper than rear wheel
excessive color coordinating
stickerz
brakeless
whole build must be more than 1000 $ / € / eggsand of course, personal taste.

Oh thanks for the explanation, that's made it clear that despite the colour coordination I obviously need to try harder!

Only just noticed this was aimed at me, I'm new here (and obv a bit slow). Shame there's no "like" button or similar.

Oh that's a bit of a worry, I'd better look out for some Omniums or something...
Especially having just had this happen on another bike...

I wouldn't worry too much, the bike and bars date from 2005...
When I looked closely at the break, the metal looks to have been starting to crack for a while and maybe I should have taken them out of the stem and checked.
Anyway I've just bought the same bar as NOS as I really like the shape and also have the same in carbon on another bike...

Agreed. With any vintage lightweight bars it's always worth keeping an eye open for crack formation.
On this particular bike I also upgraded to the same bar in carbon and relegated the alu to a beater...

I love these bars and considered putting gthem on my Super Pista, but would have meant switching to hood rather than the little brake lever currently on it as not enough space.
They look great and are the most comfortable bars I've ever used...
