  • Kane was slightly better last night, at the very least he instigated some good link up play with the midfielders behind it. Needs to stop being so bloody deep though

  • Even if they won the tournament there would still be millions of #armchairenglandmanagers passing judgement on how the team should be improved.

  • Would agree with many of the points made about England. In 2018 southgate massively surpassed expectations and everyone was pleasantly surprised. However, 3 years ago the team pretty much picked itself, we had good players in most positions and some decent backup. Players like Sancho, Bellingham, James, Chillwell, Shaw, Rice, Phillips etc weren't in the frame. We now have a lot of very good players in many positions and it seems like Southgate is struggling to decide on his best team and coach it properly. We've looked pretty uninspiring so far and I think we'll get beaten by the first good team we play.

This has been my experience of England since 1975.

  • Ha! Totally

  • Thanks. Warming up for my TdF ADSAing

  • 1996?
    GET THE FUCK OUT.

1996 is pivotal to our generation as we were mostly living away from home getting pissed in the afternoons.

    1996 -
drew with the Swiss - the fucking Swiss.
beat the Scots thanks to Colin Hendry having no pace or turning circle small enough to catch a piss head Gazza.
beat the Dutch who had qualified already.
Pennos against Spain (who were shit).
Germany - we didn't take all our chances. We weren't great.

  • This has been my experience of England since 1975.

Yours, mine, the managers and the players. They already all know that they're going to lose to Germany / France in the next round, and that it's acceptable because everyone else knows / expects them to.

  • England are an average team that really don't look like they have a goal in them, I felt like this during the last world cup as well, three quarters of our goals came from set pieces.. clearly not sustainable as we havn't matched it this time round.

I've felt like this since the early 80s and nothing has persuaded me different.

  • Don't waste your time, guys and gals, just sit back and enjoy the proper teams... Watching Ingerlund has rarely been anything but painful...

  • International tournaments always improve once England are out. Less nationalistic nonsense and you can enjoy the football.

  • Partner's Italian brother just called to ask if we could pick him up a couple of tickets for Wembley at the weekend, and if he flew over could he stay with us. Didn't know where to start with that request...

  • see spurs continue to spurs it

  • Someone else has turned them down? They're onto sixth choice now...

"Could I ask a small favour?..."

  • Apparently they're now looking at Graham Potter though Brighton say they haven't had any approach...

It's nice to see another small club struggle with their manager search.

  • I've realised my issue with the way England play is that I don't care enough about seeing them win but still feel compelled to watch their games.

rather be a glorious failure and have a great time doing it than go through whatever miserable self-flagellating pish england goes through every tournament.

This sums up how I feel, but I was discussing it with a colleague this morning and he was saying he'd take a ground-out 1-0 or 0-0 with penalties every game if it meant England won.

I'm going to watch the games anyway and I'd rather they were good and didn't feature our national anthem.

  • Or the fans singing God save the Queen, FFS

  • Southgate available to turn the job down after Tuesday.

  • No way he'd turn the job down. He could start Harry Kane in every game, all season and never sub him. Literal life goal for Gareth.

  • Toe-curling.

  • Or the fans singing God save the Queen, FFS

Yeah England deserve to be relegated for this.

  • Exactly this.
