Do you mean that the charge of murder was withdrawn for the lesser charge of manslaughter?
I think the jury were offer the option of a conviction of manslaughter if they didn't think the case for murder had been proved.
It's shit, but it's nearly impossible to get a convict of a police officer in this country for a death in custody.
I’ve followed this closely. I’m never happy when a jury is offered the option of a ‘compromise’ conviction at the start of a murder trial. It makes their decision very easy.
What a desperately sad case. He needed help and this fucking bastard turned up and killed him.
