  • It is indeed.

    'twas a brilliant day.

  • I think he went underground after the beef on the camping trip.

Nice to see him again. We chatted about the camping. It was cool.

  • Good to hear, he's a sensitive lad...

  • Absolutely. I haven’t had Ikea meatballs for too long now.

  • The Socialist Party of Norway has pushed through legislation that abolishes the requirement for a special health certificate/test for drivers older than 80. The current legislation means you at a certain age (80?) you will need a doctor's certificate stating that you are still fit to drive. Also, the doctor may refer you to re-take your driving test if they are in doubt. Not sure of the percentage, but a good chunk of senior drivers end up loosing rather than renewing their license after this test.

The Socialist Party however, states that:
"[The current system has] selected group of people and put them to a test no one else is exposed to. This is stigmatizing and the most important reason why we wanted to remove the rule, says the party's transport policy spokesman Arne Nævra."

The Google Translate link works reasonably well.

  • About 10 years ago my wife, son and I got back to Heathrow after an overnight flight from the US, my 85 year old dad was waiting in the drop zone to take the bags. My son and I said we.d get the tube home so my wife could jump in with my dad.

We were home about a hour later, my wife arrived about two hours later still. She called us both cnuts, said she’d never had so many near death experiences and that driving around the M25 at 30 mph wasn’t fun.

  • Well, this is progress, though it's perhaps telling that the uber-macho NFL has an out gay player before the Prem:

    https://www.theguardian.com/sport/2021/jun/21/nfl-raiders-carl-nassib-comes-out-as-gay

  • I was reading that this morning. I thought that as the teams are MASSIVE there must be quite a few players and wondered how many others are feeling like they need to be closeted. Google tells me there are 1,696 active players in the NFL. 1 is a great start, hoping there are others who were just waiting for someone else to take the first step.

The "support" from management was barely OK. "We don't care if he's gay", I don't think it will be an easy place for queer people (in both types of football) until there is a more proactive stance taken against homophobia/transphobia. Less of "it's OK to be gay" and more of "it's not OK to be homophobic".

  • Massive teams but only 32 of them. Same number as combined top flights of England and Scotland alone.

  • Not really that much compared to English football (92 teams of 25). Definitely no gay players in England though.

  • Thanks. Definitely short of four tons, then.

  • Short tons or long tons?

  • Tonnes of tons.

(You'd have to ask the T****** user who first posted that remark.)

  • Truly, who is Kash Singh banging / related to / holding dirt on?

  • I think someone needs to recite the pledge of allegiance and believe in Brtiain a bit harder.

  • Not the United Kingdom (of GB&NI) I notice.

No song for the Northern Irish.

  • We've got enough, thanks.

  • No sausages though.

  • PC guilty of Dalian Atkinson manslaughter:-

  • I’ve followed this closely. I’m never happy when a jury is offered the option of a ‘compromise’ conviction at the start of a murder trial. It makes their decision very easy.

What a desperately sad case. He needed help and this fucking bastard turned up and killed him.

  • Not only that his fucking girlfriend helped him!

  • I’m never happy when a jury is offered the option of a ‘compromise’ conviction

Do you mean that the charge of murder was withdrawn for the lesser charge of manslaughter?

  • Do you mean that the charge of murder was withdrawn for the lesser charge of manslaughter?

I think the jury were offer the option of a conviction of manslaughter if they didn't think the case for murder had been proved.

It's shit, but it's nearly impossible to get a convict of a police officer in this country for a death in custody.
