Regarding electric upgrade... you have a couple of aftermarket options as well
- ebikes.ca brompton kit
- swytch ebike conversion kit
- ebikes.ca brompton kit

6 or 2 speed available in uk, it will normally just be what the shop is choosing to buy rather than brompton saying no 2 speeds.
you can also get bolt lacquer; a blue raw lacquer; but there is also nothing, except warranty, stoping you repainting it.
I refuse to entertain the aftermarket kits; so many things make the stock brompton unsuitable for it; stay friendly with your dentist.

I'm looking into an electric for an elderly person in my family here in Germany.
There only seem to be 6-speed versions available here at the time (and also just turquoise (yuck) and black)..
Do you happen to know whether this will change later in the year (will 2-speeds / other colous become available again)?
Also I do get it right that if you want an electric you have to buy an electric - there is no way to "upgrade" a regular Brompton to an electric later, right?
