• So I’ve come into possession of a lovely campag record titanium seatpost, but the lower part of the saddle clamp is snapped (see photos)

Posting here on the off chance someone has a spare from a knackered post or knows where i could find a replacement fairly cheaply? Closest ive found is this on ebay:

    https://www.ebay.co.uk/p/1823113098

But seems pretty expensive for such a simple part that im not certain will fit
    Any suggestions welcome!

(On a sidenote if anyone has any tips for buffing scratches out of titanium that would be great, previous owner seems to have had fun twisting it out of the st)

  • I think buying a complete seat post from ebay or the forums is now the only way you're going to find that part. I had similar issues with the lower clamp developing hairline cracks on the rail clamping area but managed to buy a crash damaged carbon post for spares a few years ago.
For reference the Campagnolo part number is SP-RE102.

One important thing to look out for is that the "knurling pitch"(the grooves on top of the post) is 1mm on the older seat posts but this changed to 0.5mm from about 2004 but thats only for the Chorus and Record carbon versions. The alloy Centaur posts still had the 1mm pitch. The part number for the 0.5mm pitch clamp is SP-202 just in case you found one and thought it might fit.

  • Thanks for the help! I hadnt clocked the change in the knurling of the newer posts- will have a look about for an old chorus or centaur post

  • I have exactly the same need (1mm grooves...) ... if anyone has anything to sell, I would happily buy!

  • I have last week replaced my campag carbon record post as its had a crack appear. So I have the rail clamps available. Do you need the 1mm knurls? I'll dig it out and check tomorrow night on sizing.

  • Yes It is the 1mm knurls! That is excellent! Let me know... I will happily buy it from you, making a good use of broken seatpost. We are re-cycling!

  • Cool. Will check later. No idea what it would be worth, so I think forum donation for whatever you reckon. Where are you based? Can send or drop off/pick up. I'm out West tw12 but in sw3 for work.

  • I am actually based in Munich, but don't worry I wire you the shipping cost + donation! (Alternatively I can give you a friend address in London if it is more practical).
No clue what it worth too, but happy to give 25 GBP to the forum + Shipping cost reimbursement. or alternatively https://worldbicyclerelief.org/donate/.

  • Looks like 1mm knurls to me

  • Do you want the whole assembly or just the bottom plate? Pm me your address and what type of delivery you want and I'll ask how much it costs at the post office.

  • Sure it is! Excellent! Sending you in private message... and a great thank you!

  • I would like the whole assembly please!

  • @Chellis88 I sent you my address in PM!

  • Ye, I got your pm and so have your address. Will send tomorrow, just been at work for a few days. What sort of delivery option would you like?

  • Thank you!
International tracked would be good, just normal speed. Should be 12 GBP-ish (I pay for it obviously, just tell me the amount after)
