lol, yeah i know what you mean. tbh, i don't really mind as long as i can see them, cos i can dodge them fairly easily (got mad skillz). What frightens me is when traffic is stationary, or i'm going past a parked bus, and someone could just walk out in front of me between cars etc...
It's happened a few times but luckily, no injuries or anything.

RPM are you OK?
it was a slidey old day out there.
pulled some nifty moves myself, to keep face from macadam
Thanks guys, I'm okay.
That was my last post made in the Apple Store as I handed it over for a repair - offline for the weekend!!
Helmet to the brunt of the fall, I bashed my lip but no road rash - so I've kept my good looks.
Ribs v sore, but as no worse than yesterday I didn't follow through on my plans for a hospital visit this morning.
I impressed pedestrians with my immediate scuttle to get out of the way of the bus that was behind me. One kept asking me if I was okay which was nice.

I personally love Tourists....not only do they step out from busses etc but the do it looking left. Hit an 60 yr old italian lady and sent her flying (as did i ) Spent the next five minutes apologising (even tho it wasnt my fault) Tried to explain to her that we drive on the left in this country and all i got was an earfull in italian from her husband. Two security guards did come running over tho and say they saw tho whole thing...that it wasnt my fault and if they was anything they could do for me which was nice. Apparently it was the third time that day that someone had been knocked over by a cyclist for the exact same reason. The Bus stops around Centre point are a bloody nightmare ...be carefull !

Glad to hear it. Monitor those ribs for a week though...

The Tao of Bus (assumes wise old chinese man voice)
I always assume there is a pedestrian about to step out from behind every bus/truck
Learn to look through the corners (glass front/ glass side) - tis veeery helpful...
If you can't see clearly allow a bit of room for someone to step out
If there's no space to allow room, then slow down.
Jobs a goodun.
Also.. in my opinion if you don't give way to peds you is a proper cunticle.

Sound nasty stompy yeah check those ribs for a week.

Hey Stompy... hope it all heals soon.
I am always worried that if I am in a stack, even if it is someone elses fault, the plod will just take the attitude 'no bell, no pedal reflectors, no normal reflectors, LED lights... you are coming with us."
-
• #59
nope. don't worry
most cycle shoes bags and clobber has more than enough reflective material.
LED lights are legal now.
and anyway, your red rear reflector gets knocked of and lost in a crash ;)

whoah! what's wrong with LED lights?
my favorite is tooley just outside london bridge tube. The other day I was riding up the rise totwards the bridge, picked a lane through the sea of pedestrians crossing against the lights and this chick stops, turns around and walks into the side of my bars.
I usually holler at peds (and taxis, and busses........etc) but is not really effective unless I remove my pollution mask first. It just comes across as agressive mumbling.

scoober agressive mumbling
I really want to step in front of you now just to witness this ;-)

Yep tooley street is full of idiots.
Get rid of the pollution mask. Would you wear it while walking or in a car or in a bus?
Then you can yell properly.

Tried the "ride straight at the ped" technique today.
Coming from Exhibition Road towards Old Brompton Road, past the tube. Guy looks at me, steps 3 or 4 paces into the road, looks again, does a little dance, then jumps back to the curb with the most ridiculous look on his face. Total idiot.

it worked then?

Won't tagging me in a post before I was here upset the time/space continuum?
-
• #67
The space time continuum is my bitch. It'll do what its told.
and just because one car stops, doesn't mean the rest of the road is clear. that's more dangerous.
I'm always saying it, bring back the green cross code!
