You are looking at it the wrong way around to his point though aren't you?
30-1 supervision of your kid is valued as free provided by the state or 15-50k if you send them to private
He is willing to pay £50k as that gets him 1-2-1 which is a massive improvement
Obviously I agree that teachers are underpaid and not trying to undermine that

Good point, well made.

We had au-pairs for a couple of years in the early 70’s. We were far from rich so I suspect it was board and food plus a little pocket money back then. One of them taught me to swim by chucking me in the local pool and waiting…
Both were from Mozambique, I couldn’t work out why I was so popular (I was around 7 or 8). I’ve subsequently seen photos of the au pairs. Now I know exactly why I was so popular. I feel used 😂😂. -

Why are all the 1%ers so annoyed at featuring in this thread? If I earned as much as these people's nannies I would be lording it over everyone

‘The wife’ really lifts it.

Agreed. Chef's kiss.

They just pretend to be annoyed, they're really delighted that they've subcontracted their bragging for no further outlay. They are actually annoyed if you point out that they're new money tho - gets them right in the insecurities.

Indeed. I would like to offer a fulsome apology for not inheriting all my furniture - however my kitchen table and chairs did belong to my grandparents.

Nannies, pah. Only boarding school gets the buggers properly out of your way.

Oh, and we have a chair in the bedroom that I hang clothes on which used to belong to my girlfriend’s grandmother

My wife has invited a bunch of her old school friends for lunch on Saturday. I had planned it all- pizzas for lunch and cake for tea. Tesco order made for ingredients etc. Have scheduled it all - two different pizza doughs, one takes 36 hours, the other 24 hours, baking cakes in the morning before people arrive etc etc.
Just been told one family intend to arrive at 8.45 a-fucking-m! WTAF and what I really need is to have to produce breakfast when I didn’t plan for it, buy ingredients etc or have people/children underfoot when I already had a busy morning of food prep planned. Additionally if my wife is having to keep them occupied/distracted it means all the other non food set up duties will also fall upon me.
Of course we can’t ask them to come later as they have booked non transferable train tickets. Am just waiting to be told that I am expected to pick them up from the station and that my car needs to be cleaned as it’s filthy.

Not golf club. At the golf club one would be complaining about having to rearrange when the caterers were arriving. Once again Hipster ≠ Golf Club.

Pretty sure any situation that involves you cooking instead if your wife isn't very GC.
-
• #1821
Sorry, but two different types of pizza dough is very definitely golf club.

Unless you can invoke the BBQ Exception.

I don't see how making your own pizzas fits into this thread. Buying an Ooni and then failing to get it to work and ordering delivery pizza, maybe.

I don't see how making your own pizzas fits into this thread. Buying an Ooni and then not bothering to learn to work it and ordering delivery pizza, maybe.

I was replying to you, so you didn’t think I was judging you. Since it’s for a week, I assumed it was a holiday rather than work. 👍
