23.5 mpg with three bikes on the roof, economy fans. That’s sticking religiously to speed limits for 250 miles, average speed of 50.

• #65203
Reckon three bikes is worse than two, or once you have two up there it’s much the same to add more?
-
• #65204
If 2 equals 3 why do we buy aero bikes?
However, what breed of bike? Does one downhill MTB= 2 aero road bikes? How many TT bikes to the aero road bike? Are the front wheels removed compromising the aeros? What is the precise turbulence between any two rack mounted bikes of any combination of types?
We await exhautive wind tunnel testing for rack optimisation at a range of velocities and wind strength/yaw angles.

Presuming this is your large estate, remove wheels, stuff the lot in the back with one rear seat dropped, put rider of the size M in a roof box, save ~8.37 mpg.

I've got some rims to widen the track on that ;)

Is it an aftermarket immobiliser?
-
• #65210
It's got a factory fit LR one, plus an after-market Clifford G5 alarm, which has its own immobiliser (which was fitted before my ownership).

Contact Kam on instagram, excellent reliable worker for anything alarm or audio related.

We have made our first product and it's for sale - could I ask people to take a look and if you see a typo or it the copy doesn't make sense etc to let me know?

materials are not specified "machined from 2014 aluminium"
Tolerances not specified "assembled to ***tolerance"
Assembled in a clean room?£990 is a lot for an oil pump without specific details.
Include the oil line and gaskets / O rings. You should not have to go shopping in different places to complete the kit. Or provide a complete kit at extra pounds and a bit of mark up.
Don't discount a new item.
It's a good looking product.

Yeah the arbitrary discount looks naff (imo)

The pipe is ~£300 from Porsche, and we would need to pas that through at cost.
It’s a pipe with two bends and a mating flange so we will make our own version and once that is done sell a complete package for less than it would cost to get pump from us and pipe from Porsche- but we haven’t finished the procurement process for the pipe yet.

Awkward copy is awkward but I find all automotive website copy to be awkward.
And yes, kill the discount
"Machined from solid billet this pump scavenges the flywheel end of the engine where, in track driving situations, oil can build up without being returned to the sump leading to oil-starvation.
When preparing the 3.4 litre M96 engine for Cup cars, Porsche created an extensive set of modifications to the engine under the X51 designation. The modifications included a now discontinued dual stage scavenge pump. Our pump performs the role of the original X51 dual-stage oil scavenge unit.
This is a direct replacement for the standard single stage pump and requires a separate Porsche X51 oil return line (not included)."
Probably worth listing out all the basics and supported engines and model years - if only for the SEO benefits.

I would want to know about your testing and how you have proved this product works and lasts.
-
• #65218
I'm going to dig out the Porsche part number for the return pipe, I've killed the discount and added some more detail on engines. I need to find out what grade of aluminium it is, will add that when I know.

Hah - well the honest answer is that I fitted the first one to my engine and then ragged it around the South of England, and it didn't blow up.
-
• #65220
Ok. You might want to find a way to get some testing under your belt and also try to talk about how you have proved your design.
-
• #65221
Shouldn’t it also say gives extra 8bhp or whatever

The point at which it’s going to be under maximum stress is starting from cold, which it’s done a lot in my engine but of course that’s no substitute for running it for thousands of hours on an engine Dyno. Hard for us to do that, so we have used pump gears from a global manufacturer who has- we make the casing and drive for the off the shelf gears.

Ah, it’s built on Squarespace so I assume we’re stuck with those.
Thanks for all the help everyone.

This isn't particularly legible. Maybe a bit more info on your about page to convince me to spend a grand on an aftermarket oil pump?

What’s the roof rack and how much did it set you back?
Cosmic sticker on the arch is a nice touch. Jealous of the lack of bubbling/rust too.
Might as well tell us what engine’s in there while you’re at it!
