What the hell do you guys do with your beans?
The kids like to eat them raw. They also like to pick of any and every bean they find, regardless of size.

I've had Broad Beans wiped out by Black Fly for the past few years and it looks like its happening again this year.
Getting tonnes of blackfly on some of mine, but not infested early enough to hamper the bean production. Only about 4 ladybirds though, lazy buggers. I did a bit of smooshing but might need the soapy spray.
Anyone got advice on the garlic rust?

We eat broad beans raw when they're little, they make great hummus too. Lately just fried with garlic and butter and spinach though.

OK, so my potatoes have been in for 49 days.
How long are you good people leaving yours in for? 80? When the tops start to yellow and die?

Have they flowered yet? I don’t really count the days, just play it by eye. Looks like those can stay in the ground a fair while longer.

Just been to the plot after two weeks away. It's a jungle! Broad beans to harvest and lifted all the garlic that probably should have come out a bit earlier. Walking home to a lovely garlic aroma tho.

They've got flower buds. Not sure they will flower. Some of the buds have fallen off which seems to be a thing. It's a steep learning curve however one I'd like to master! :)

Not all potatoes flower.
ORLLY! Did not know that. I've generally waited for the flowers to fall off and haulms to die back a bit and then lifted a couple to see what they spuds were like.

Should I cut off the fruit and flowers off potatoes. Presume the energy could be put into growing bigger potatoes

I don't think anyone bothers.

I've had that on my spuds before. Doesn't the fruit set from the flower, though?

Yes - all fruit comes from a flower.
They had completely shut down and were pretty well died back. Some are a bit small but there’s some bigguns too.
Almost everyone at our site pulled their garlic over the last week.
