As those kids inevitably grow we needed a bigger frame for my daughter. I took an old Jamis frame that i found in the skip and put a new dropped toptube in. She loves it and does not want it to be painted.

I don't need another brakeless track bike, but I can't resist this Terry Dolan.
The wheels are borrowed of my other bike just to check fit, but I'll probably relace the rims to some Campag hubs with silver spokes. Then it just needs a crankset and BB and I'm good to go.

very cleeeaaaaan

Yeah a BB would just clutter things up.

Love this. I miss track bikes, so much easier to build.

I'm building a Marin San Rafael from 1995 and I've hit a snag with the headset. I installed an M-part elite 1 inch headset but the stack height is too high and I can't get the locknut on the threads.
It obviously needs a low stack height headset but any new low stack headsets are ISO and I need JIS. Any suggestions for low stack height JIS headsets? Preferably black.
Should add I can't use the old one, it's bust up inside.

EC30 threaded I assume? Tange Levin is the usual go-to, should be JIS versions but you may have to hunt
Edit: Or not, turns out more people stock the JIS variant than the ISO

Yes EC30 threaded.
Ye I have found a couple of the JIS Tange Levins but none in black.
Am I also correct in assuming that low stack, sealed bearings and made of aluminium does not exist?

Yeah, weird, loads of silver JIS, loads of black ISO, black JIS not so much.

It’s only the crown race which is different with JIS size, right? Assuming it’s sealed bearings, you could use the angled 27mm crown race you’ve got and pick a different ISO alloy headset to use with it. Most of them use the same angle crown race. As Tester said, the Tange is the usual choice for low stack. Also Stronglight might be an option as it comes in black.

I’m starting to think you’ve got a secret hidden lock up full of hideous bikes somewhere. In a sort of Dorian Gray’s portrait situation.

No the cups are 30mm instead of 30.2mm. I suppose you might be able to squeeze them in but I don't think it would be advisable.
I've found some old Deore headsets from the 90s that come in black and JIS so I'm hunting on the bay.

Ritchey Logic?
edit: yeah, nah the crown race is 26.4

Well, to be honest, given how hard it's proving to find a black JIS 1 inch headset in the UK, it might be worth getting the crown milled down to 26.4. It's a pretty easy job.
Yea! Thanks :)
