  • Test system built with RTX A5000.

    2x GPUs and a 32-core EPYC run happily off a 700W redundant PSU, whereas an older 10-core Skylake-X system with 2x Radeon Pro WX9100s needed 1.2KW for half the performance.

  • We had 2 render boxes with dual 64 core EPYC CPUSs for testing last year. The performance was insane none of the Intel machines came even close.

  • The new Ice Lake 10nm Xeons with 8-channel memory and PCIe 4.0 will give EPYC a run for its money hopefully.

    Pricing is looking competitive for the first time ever between the two, and the Intel products may end up having the advantage of being freely available to buy as opposed to AMD, who are massively constrained by TSMC’s fab capacity.

    Mad times.
