I've been wearing glasses since I was 7 (short-sighted and astigmatic). I'm now 71 and over the last ten years or so my eyesight has actually gone into reverse and been improving and I can now wear again glasses which I first wore when I was 15.

Did you keep them all this time?

I bought a few pairs of glasses during lockdown, obviously bought online without trying.

I find they slip down my nose compared to other glasses, any suggestions on which bit I should be bending to stop this?

Bend the piece that goes behind your ear at around 1/3rd or 1/4th of the length (right where it bends down to hook your auricle). If glasses are made of plastic or similar material you might want to heat them slightly with a hair dryer to make them a bit more flexi.

Haha, yes; 1960s gold-rimmed. I still have my 'Buddy Holly's' too but, sadly, my first ever pair - pink plastic rims - got broke playing football.

I've got my old mans specs from this era, slowly getting things reglazed.

They don't make them like they used to etc.

1950s and 60s gold frames are my all-time favourites; I have quite a few at the moment as I use reading glasses as well as regular ones. Algha and Rodenstock from that era are great - Kings Cross Eyes usually has a good selection of vintage/classic frames with prices much lower than new frames elsewhere.

Cheers. I was thinking of the nose pads but that makes more sense. They're cheap glasses but not so cheap lenses.

also a light sanding of the nose pads makes them a bit grippier.

Just won some Cazal on eBay.

I hope my middle aged-ness helps me pull them off.

Can anyone recommend one of those cheap online next day glasses place? Snapped my specs and need something cheap to get me through hols next week until I can go and choose something decent.

Anyone have experience of double aspheric lenses? Sound like they could improve clarity on the periphery which has always been a slight annoyance to me.

Finally got an eye test and, as I suspected, my vision is a little bit shitty for stuff further away.

Are there any sunglasses (and I guess I'll need normal clear lenses too) that will work when I'm in a TT tuck? ie. really tall prescription sunglasses lenses. I've used Smith Optics V90 Max in the past which have large lenses and no frame that work when you're tucked and basically staring through your eyelids.

Have you considered contacts? I can't get the bastards in but wish I could. Gives you loads more options for cycling glasses and it'd be useful not to have to wear glasses when it's chucking it down because you can't see anything after a couple of minutes because the lenses get all wet.
