bucket hats for running
I have one (not a fancy one) and I don't really like it. Bucket hats don't suit me and I find they don't provide enough shade. I do like caps - I have a couple of lightweight ones (either from decathlon and freebies from races/events) which are good as the heat/humidity is already awful. I might treat myself to a new hat for summer.

Not saying they're any more likely to suit you than a bucket hat but can highly recommend US/AUS military Boonie hats for keeping sun off all day.
I look like an utter plonker while wearing one but I haven't found anything better for keeping the sun off during a full day in the mountains on a high UV day.

Ooooh. Perhaps this is the new hat that hats should buy for summer!

Look at Outdoor Research. You can't beat them for quality, breathability and weight. They are beloved by mountaineers.
Jana has this one. It rolls up and packs/stows well and has loads of ventilation. She wears it in the mountains in summer when she's not wearing a helmet: https://www.outdoorresearch.com/us/sombriolet-sun-hat-243441
They have lots of variations though: https://www.outdoorresearch.com/us/womens-sun-hats
I usually use a cap with neck attachment but on really hot days wear a US army surplus boonie with neck cover. Much cheaper than the OR but much heavier

They also have this, which is designed for runners

That sun hat looks ace, but nearly double the cost of the Hoka one.
Not heard of outdoor research before, lots of good stuff there.

No idea if its as good as the Hoka but its quite well reviewed.
If its anywhere near as good as Jana's brimmed hat then I'd definitely consider it.

OT: Have two entries for the The Maverick Adidas Terrex Original Hampshire 2021 long (24km) trail race THIS Saturday. You can use this entry for the short distances as well.
Worth 37quid each - selling for 30 quid a spot or 50 for both.

Summer hats for the cost of postage -
Couple of hats I no longer need (bought new ones) and you just need to cover the cost of postage which is probably about £2.80 or thereabouts.
Little use and freshly laundered.

Would have taken one of those, but away this weekend. Looks a cracking route.
The founder of those events, Ben, used to work with that cockpiece Martin at UKCE. Ben however is a stand-up chap from what I recall.

Still available? After yesterday's run, I could really do with a hat, and reusing is good!

Bucket hat was great to run in. It was raining and felt nice.
Peregrine 11 news. Had a few runs in them. Initially they felt firm and a bit unforgiving, Albeit excellent on rocks and stones.
However, I popped some superfeet run comfort inners in, and now they feel excellent. Good comfort and nice 'feel' of the trail.
Hopefully they've for the durability people have said they do.
