The X5 (and the X3 which I have) has that stupidly hard spiky sole tread (TPU?) that wears down about 5mm per ride if you ever put your feet down on gravel/tarmac/terracotta tiled cafe.
The X4 uses Velcro for the main strap, and it's 2021.
I've got the X-track race, good quality, weight and 'action'. Obviously no one's ever had any problems with Shimano PD-Ms but I wanted to try something different. And I would buy again!
I’ve been using the x5s with the old forum-favourite Time ATAC pedals for many years, I have he latest iteration X5s as well as an older pair for bad weather - this wearing-down-the-sole thing is not something I’ve personally experienced, and I do 6-8000km per year on them.
I realise the pedal conversation was a few years ago but my mason arrives in the next week or so.
Not going to kid myself, it will be doing a lot of road miles as well as trips to gravelfoyle. I've been looking at the look x track race.
On the shoe front the fizik x4/x5 and giro sector look decent.
Anyone using any of these?
