  • Did they do some sampling for you or do they just go for it and then it's either 1) bricks are in good condition and it's £3.5k or 2) bricks need to be replaced and it's like £10k?

That's what is scaring me when thinking about doing something like that even though I prefer the look.

  • Which one of us will do it first?

  • Wannabe ideo running on magic money from global business by the looks of things.

  • Were they the ones I recommended?

  • Michael was a really good bloke when he did ours - pretty sure I've recommended him to others as well.

Mind you the prices have clearly gone up! I paid £1.5k for mine back in 2017

  • Well after we've had the work done to our place, we'll be here for a good few years yet. I was back home over Easter BH and really fancy somewhere back around Cley/Wiverton/Salthouse

  • Not had your morning flatty and pastry this morning or something?!? :P

  • Yeah we will be here for at least 5 years unless something drastic changes. Seen some pretty grand places in Norwich for the price of ours but the misses refuses to consider them because of the people, the culture (or lack of) and the food available in Norwich, and I tend to agree, every time I we go back we are shocked at the fact everyone looks like grey potatoes.

That being said, once we are old a place in the middle of nowhere looking over some nice coastal countryside is tempting.

  • Would you mind sharing details of the people who did yours?

  • The guys @Hobo linked to did mine - I think you might have asked that before so apologies! I would recommend them

  • Mind you it’s a fucking dusty job so you’ll have a clean up operation on yer hands

  • Thanks!

Yeah, next door had their front brickwork sanded and re-pointed, dust was seeping through the airbricks and up through our living room floorboards!

  • I thought the Internet meant everything forever, but I'm struggling to find this.

I swear on my life Damien Hirst had a shaker style summer house built in his garden in Devon.

    Ring any bells?

  • grey potatoes.

Bit late. But I used to think the same when we'd visit in-laws.

But then after having a holiday there last year discovered that there are actually plenty of affected middle class hotspots.

It's just the transport thing. Which is why Kent is so appealing in comparison.

  • as mentioned on the home thread, got some new art lads. by one of my favourite musicians/artists (dan lissvik)

  • Cheers.

Amazing how few photos there are out there.

I wonder if this was the genesis for everyone's Shaker kitchen cabinets today.

  • everyone's Shaker kitchen cabinets today

Shaker style kitchens been around a bit longer than 2001? (Also didn't realise they were on trend atm)

  • Nice shot.
Good to see the forum approved kettle too.

  • V nice

We’re considering buying a new piece of art which we saw at a gallery in Bath last week. Need to uhm and ah over it a little while longer yet

  • The first coat is done. A little darker than originally imagined but we like it. Got to do another coat and paint the door alcove black plus add some tiling.

  • That looks absolutely fantastic. Black paint and windows combo is on point

  • Really lovely, door has a lot of pop!

  • What paint are you using for the masonry? Looks very matt. I like it!

  • Farrow and Ball. It has a nice finish but is very watery.
