That’s more wet sand than dry tho.

Mostly done on wet sand yes but the courses often include dry too

funny how if i spend 3 hours spiralling on "what my drivetrain choice says about me and my personal values" and "how does that fit into the socio cultural philosophy of my build ethos" i'm seen as "unhealthy" and clearly "losing it"
but these people can race around on sand for an hour and are "healthy", or "clearly have their life in order"

I tried 33s for the first time this weekend , Crystal Palace to Harlow. Worked well.

Are those Mud Wrestlers? Has summer arrived in South London?

Looking for some recommendations on an entry-level gravel bike. Something around £1k that I can get on the cycle to work scheme so I don't notice the money gone. Want to use this while I spend more time/money building a better gravel bike. Topstone, Diverge, Jari, etc. - What's good/best?

• #19743
Ha yeah half the route was off-road /wanted to try them out
-
• #19744
Nice tyres, but I'd spare them for the wintery mud as they only last about 800/1000km before they are as good as a slick tyre.

Racing is like the opposite of fretting about things that might not even be real. That’s why it’s healthy. But you have a point.

Jari is solid - mine has done commuting, road and now gravle/mtb - but I didn't think it was available in UK/EU.

Something around £1k...
That's hen's teeth terrority, you're looking at subpar mechanical braking.
Genesis CDA is a good shout too.

I realise the pedal conversation was a few years ago but my mason arrives in the next week or so.
Not going to kid myself, it will be doing a lot of road miles as well as trips to gravelfoyle. I've been looking at the look x track race.
On the shoe front the fizik x4/x5 and giro sector look decent.
Anyone using any of these? -

The X5 (and the X3 which I have) has that stupidly hard spiky sole tread (TPU?) that wears down about 5mm per ride if you ever put your feet down on gravel/tarmac/terracotta tiled cafe.
The X4 uses Velcro for the main strap, and it's 2021.
Buying Shimano next time.
Big thing in the Netherlands
