I hope he doesn’t crush the tour. Else in future most/all tour contenders will skip the may/June races to train in the way he has done.

Yes, that’s possible. But then the May/June races could open up like the Giro did last year? Despite it missing the big contenders, there was great racing and it was a joy to watch some young guns battle it out.
