Awesome. Nice to spot bikes like that around Brighton. There’s so few people riding fixed these days. I’m staying in London currently and there’s loads of fixed and single speed bikes around here

Can't imagine why! Fixed in Brighton is good for training but you've got to admit Brighton is better suited for gears. Unless you live and work on the seafront.

I ride one week fixed, the next week geared. It's a good balance. When I was riding fixed exclusively, I was finding that I just wasn't going to certain areas that I'd otherwise happily explore (Hanover).

I live in Hanover and ride fixed...
It's made me creative with routes. -

Me too. I've sold the singlespeed but when I had it Queens Park Road was a firm favourite.

Just a heads up for anyone heading north on the Lewes Rd this morning, one of the bus stops by Wild Park has been smashed up, glass all over the cycle lane.

If anyone out and about sees anyone or a group looking out of place on high end bikes and e-bikes take a picture if you can. There's a little crew of them they went past my shop the other day with a metallic dark purple trek e-mtb, a matt black Cube E-mtb both 5k+ spec a black and yellow medium travel carbon scott trail bike a white Cannondale scalpel with lefty fork. 3 guys with 4 bikes between them. They are robbing bikes from busy areas of town on broad daylight and when the thefts are reported individually the police have no interest but hopefully if they can be I.D'd if known to the police they might pull their finger out if they could potentially catch them with 20 grands worth of bikes at an address. By the time I'd grabbed my phone from my section they were half way up Trafalgar street so couldn't I'd the theives or bikes. If your riding anything decent around town it might be worth chucking an extra lock on it.

Thanks for the heads up, I've been riding my Super Six around a bit recently, although not leaving it locked anywhere.
-
• #890
:(
Do you think they are cutting thru d-locks?
-
• #891
I've had a few nice bike there mate comments from certain types at traffic lights this summer. No ones tried to put a hand on it but I'm a lot more aware than i used to be. Bike theft, muggings and shoplifting have increased massively recently. Town is definitely abit iffy and a lot of this is happening in busy areas in the middle of the afternoon.

Yeah they've got 2ft bolt croppers straight through in seconds. I know some of the more expensive locks are meant to offer more resistance than that but I'm not chancing it. Might buy a beater for town.
-
• #893
good lord... been parking up my Goldhawk and figuring a d-lock is ok... will stick to a beater from now on; thanks
-
• #894
Got it. No more stopping at red lights...
Seriously though, what cunts. Thieving is properly scummy.

Might buy a beater for town
Probably best. Sad... but you have to be pragmatic.

Got it. No more stopping at red lights...
😂

I still stop but sit one or two cars back so i get less noticed (day glow lycra probably doesn't help) rather than filtering through to the front right up to the lights curbside and leaning on a post or handrail still clipped in. I'm upgrading my home insurance to cover theft or muggings to cover this. I've been riding around town for over 20 years and never felt worried about just riding around town only leaving it locked up.

It's depressing innit.
