Any forum favourite methods of carrying max 1l of water on a long trail run?

Belt? Vest? Backpack? Just getting to the point where I'll need to start carrying water soon.

I have a vest with a bladder that worked well until I put the bladder somewhere out of the way and now I can't find it. The vest has a front pocket that fits a 500ml bottle of water though so it's still useful.
