I've had a Babyliss Chrome Clipper Kit (model 693U) for the last ~20 years and it is still going strong. Never taken apart, never even applied any of the oil. It just gets used once a month with the #1 guard on for the head and then with no guard to take the beard off (and then I might wet shave) and tidy up. I shave in the kitchen where I can then sweep it all up. Clippers get wiped down with a piece of dry kitchen towel at the end.
I think I paid £30 for it all those years ago and it has probably saved me £000's in hairdresser/barber costs.
That specific model doesn't seem to be available any more, but points to the fact that the bottom of the range Babyliss might just be a starting point (unless that's what you've been doing already).
Looking for some kind of hair clipper thing after my current one seems to have conked out. Tried taking it apart/oiling etc but as soon as it makes contact with anything solid it slows down/tears out chunks of hair.
I seem to end up buying a new one every year/two years tops which is just stupid. What's something that will last a long time if looked after? I'd love it to be cordless and I'd love it even more if it could charge via USB but suspect the last two are unlikely (cordless seems to mean limited lifespan which I begrudgingly understand - there's no shaver charger in our bathroom so it means running an extension near the door).
This looks solid but may well just be glitter on shit: https://www.babyliss.co.uk/cordless-super-motor-clipper-BAB8700U.html
Want something that will shave my head (so not completely cumbersome to use that I need to sit on the toilet while Mrs CYOA comes in and does the bits I've missed) and keep beard sporadically looking tidy.
