  • Sadly not.

    Modern life is rubbish

  • if you don't have your card can't you use google/apple pay on your phone?

  • Off the grid coffee needed, leave no trace, nudge nudge, wink wink.

  • Just give the cash to someone in the queue and ask them to pay by card. I've done that a few times for people recently - usually older walkers at Pen Ponds Cafe in Richmond Park.

  • Problem is I have cash but no money.

At least not on the card on my phone.

  • Surveillance state.
    Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?

    • go to one of those places that allow people to buy a coffee credit in advance for a stranger
    • claim the credit
    • drink the coffee
    • optional: return with electronic funds at another time, pre-laundered if necessary by more practical means and buy a credit in advance for a stranger

  • nothing is working and i'm still going round in circles, any offers for a new, albeit completely dysfunctional, garmin edge 500 to have a fiddle with?

do you see the device when plugged into a laptop/desktop?? if you do remove the suggested file and reset the device.

  • I cycled a decent distance yesterday for the first time in ages. My legs are tired today which seems fair enough. My arms are also tired which I think means my bike position is all wrong? Is there a bike fit thread? Should I book an appointment? Who is good (central or north London)? Should I just get on the bike more often and HTFU?

  • If you're anything like me, your core muscles will have disappeared from sitting on your arse for the last year-and-a-bit. That won't have helped.

  • The Fabric range is pretty nice, and sensibly priced. Appearance is contemporary but not aggressively modern, but no brown to be had.

  • Should I just get on the bike more often and HTFU?

I'd give it some time. Obviously stop if it gets progressively worse or seriously painful but, as others have said, it will just take a while for the core muscles that help maintain your position to come back.

If you're not doing regular decent distance rides then you could also do some core strength exercises off the bike, should only be 20-30 minutes a few times a week. Don't have any specific recommendations, others may have, I'd just resort to google.

  • Is this a "pan head" screw? If so, where I can I find one in M4x5mm, to take a 2.5mm hex head and with a head diameter is ~5mm. I've tried eBay and a couple of fastening places and the heads all seem to be 7mm diameter.

  • core strength exercises off the bike

Too boring. I basically dislike exercise that doesn't feel like it is getting my anywhere. So I don't really like going on a circular ride but a commute or Dunwich Dynamo is great. Equally parkrun is a bit meh but running to work is awesome. And I have the self-discipline of a toddler when I'm bored.

    I'd give it some time.

    Will do that though.

    Cheers, @ffm too.

  • found M4x6mm

Can’t you just grind off a mm?

Yes it’s a pan head, also iirc a cheese head (USA)

  • I've updated the post. There are a few places doing 5mm and I could probably grind it down with a lot of care. Finding the small head seems tricky.

  • If you’re in London try Clerkenwell Screws.

Is is a bike thing? Derailleur limit screw?

  • Not london but there's probably something similar locally. Pad retainer screws. I will just buy ones with a fat head if I have to, but it would be nice to have them match if I can.

  • You're a star!

  • where I can I find one

From the manufacturer of whichever assembly you have which uses that proprietary fastener 🙂

  • I've probably got some spares that take a 2mm knocking about if you want some, defo throw loads away because if the pads have 2.5mm or Phillips heads I reuse them because the 2mm are prone to rounding off.

  • Thanks, will take a look!

  • Is Zervant ok for generating invoices? Or should I not trust them with my infos?

  • Looking for some kind of hair clipper thing after my current one seems to have conked out. Tried taking it apart/oiling etc but as soon as it makes contact with anything solid it slows down/tears out chunks of hair.

I seem to end up buying a new one every year/two years tops which is just stupid. What's something that will last a long time if looked after? I'd love it to be cordless and I'd love it even more if it could charge via USB but suspect the last two are unlikely (cordless seems to mean limited lifespan which I begrudgingly understand - there's no shaver charger in our bathroom so it means running an extension near the door).

This looks solid but may well just be glitter on shit: https://www.babyliss.co.uk/cordless-super-motor-clipper-BAB8700U.html

Want something that will shave my head (so not completely cumbersome to use that I need to sit on the toilet while Mrs CYOA comes in and does the bits I've missed) and keep beard sporadically looking tidy.
