  • Has a pro used a gravel bike in a race yet? Aren't they all just using their normal bikes with different tyres?

  • Has there been a stage that warrants it? I'm not following cycling close enough to say, but aren't the gravel parts just sections in between paved road, similar to the spring cobbled classics? So to not slow down too much there you take your fastest bike on tarmac and hold on for dear life on gravel. Similar to an uphill time trial, you take the bike that's fastest overall unless you're allowed a bike change

  • EF have raced on the Synapse, I think Specialized’s Diverge has been used at Roubaix before. But not much in the World Tour as the surfaces haven’t require it…yet.

That’s why Trek Segafredo, EF, Canyon/SRAM, Alpecin Fenix, etc, are sending riders to gravel races…to sell those new gravel bikes.
