Shame the planet X ones I have atm (can't remember the name, made by panaracer) don't come in bigger size. I love the 33 1/2 I have, bought a spare pair, they're perfect with mudguards...

Grand Bois are made by Panaracer too, worth checking if they do something in that size. I had a pair in 650B, they were very good. Remember that Paselas tend to come up small, so the 38s might be closer to 35s...

Indeed... Try the what tyres thread, they might be able to help? I went for the G-Ones on the basis of wide, roll well on road, good for gravel (and tan), but there may be a better alternative.

Depends on what look you want of course, they're more neo-retro than retro, if that makes sense. As are other Schwalbe tan-walls in my experience.
