Ordered!
I hope you ordered the right ones, there are two R8 bearings, both 0.500" ID 1.125" OD but thicknesses are 0.250" and 0.3125"
R8D should be the latter, but I wouldn't trust a seal marking since both use the same seal. -

@phildas if you want to get rid of them, let me know how much you want, but i fear that shipping from UK would come close to the price of 8 new pairs (20€)
@gbj_tester good point - i think this is one of the rare 50/50 occasions in life where i picked the right option ;-))

Much much better options than the classic options of halo or WI

Well, you had a 1 in 10 chance of being right 😀

got a MGOOF 90s steel geared road bike with horizontal drop outs. anytime I put the power down the rear wheel moves and starts rubbing on the NDS chainstay. I've changed the rear skewer (from the supplied fulcrum racing 5 skewer to an agrictultural turbo skewer) - still exhibiting the problem. ideas behind the cause? incorrectly dished wheel? take it to the bike shop?

Closed cam skewer? Are the dropouts parallel?

ideas behind the cause?
Not enough friction 🙂
What kind of dropouts? In my experience, stamped ones always slip, forged ones never do.
There's a potential fix, either COTS or custom

Picked up this roberts destined for my girlfriend today which @The.Gren so nicely posted in eBay finds. Much appreciated.
Tyres/Wheels switched out for some conti’s on open pros with hope hubs, loud hubs=better?
Mudguards, rack and bottle cages removed for now for a lighter more road than touring look.
Just to now change the stem and saddle and I think it will be good to go. That said she hasn’t actually seen it yet @Jingle_Jangle
@bobble I will let you know if she doesn’t get on with it.

Interesting frame that, somewhat reminiscent of a Chesini Innovation. I reckon it might look a little more elegant with a lower traditional stem and some swept porteur type or moustache bars. Also, in my experience, people who are not bike nerds usually don’t like loud hubs.

Hi All,
Are there any experienced wheelbuilders here? Im London based and finishing off a tandem restoration. I've built many wheels before but I am pulling my hair out rebuilding the rear wheel.
Its a 1929 Sturmey Archer KT3 (photos attached). Its a 3 speed with a drum brake on the flip side and is pretty rare nowadays so obvs no information online and I have obviously measured it incorrectly for the third time. I cant seem to get the correct spoke length.
Anybody got any recommendations on who could help me out?

The mechanics threads may be of more help than this one.
Edit: there's even a wheelbuilding thread :)
Edit2: as tester says :)) -

Or the actual wheel building thread 🙂

Can't see from here and, relevantly, with that large flange size differential you might not have seen it right from there, but are you one hole out with the second inbound set? People have been known to do that even with equal sized flanges, so you'd be forgiven for slipping with that thing.

Bar end shifters into trekking/cruiser/big backsweep bars: how do I route the cable properly? Simply tuck it underneath the grip/tape and that's it? What's the lufuguss aesthetic police approved method? There's so many builds that executed this aspect nicely and I don't want to ruin my bike with an ugly mess of a cockpit.

From the ashes. Finally fitted mudguards, just in time for summer. Jettisoned the crabon forks as a bad idea with the gooseneck. Bits still to do.

Bonus Merckx. Not really a project, but I did have a spoke replaced today.

No but I had a pair of spinergys once and the previous owner gave me a sandwich bag with some new bearings in that he said were new replacements but I never used them and I'm pretty sure they're still in a box at home, I don't have the wheels any more
