Indeed. Also, like a proper newbee, he offered them the better position only to beat them even from the front. Perhaps he scared them off with his beserker sprint style.

So Tao tried to win an uphill sprint against Valverde? Nice. Next time!

Well done Richie - great ride.

Kirby asked Brian Smith on the GCN coverage who his pick for the day was. Smith's response was "I haven't really looked at it to be honest", 10km from the finish... What a tool. Actually miss Hatch and Kelly.

Would be great to see Porte win the Dauphine. Been a very clever signing for Ineos.

Kirby described today’s stage winner as the “victorer”. Fuckwit

Padun's post-victory interview was great, even if he is a God botherer. Very sweet and humble and open, like a little boy really.

Oh wait. I genuinely thought he had a spanish team mate named Jesus.

What is the historic correlation between Porte winning or nearly winning the Critérium, and crashing or not crashing in the Tour? And early season Strava rides with Froome.

I've been watching the highlights while pretty tired, but I'm sure I saw what I saw...
Movistar actually using team tactics to work together? Valverde leads out Lopez, who links up with Mas up the road? The only Movistar thing about it was that it was ultimately unsuccessful.
I notice it's still Ineos wearing the yellow numbers too.

There was a moment where Mas finally came to the front and started setting the pace, just as Lopez was about to make it across. You'd have thought he'd have waited until the junction was made.

I had to look up the fact that Little Richie Porte finished on the Tour De France podium 9 months ago.

He was leading on the landmark uphill TT until Pog went as well I think. He played a blinder.
-
• #35323
That’s brilliant. Why doesn’t this race have a higher profile?

Castelli has given Luke Rowe the reigns of thier instagram. So far he has been hit in the face with a pillow and got Dennis in the plums with a remote control.

It was on in the middle of the Giro this year, maybe it just clashes with bigger events.
I know neither Costa or Chaves are the riders they once were, but that’s a decent pair of riders to beat to get your first pro win. Costa, especially, used to be ruthless in positions like that.
