Oh right! As you were.

What's the point of a Kirk if it doesn't have the signature droopy seat stays :P
-
• #29
Yeah good question. The terraplane is very cool IMO and that is something I would have specced on my own that this guy didn't. So, yeah, that's -1 point for this one. But also..... The price is like +10 points for this one.
-
• #30
Fair, how much are we talking for a custom frame with terraplane stays?
-
• #31
Ok, We're at +9
What's the threshold?
-
• #32
$4100 base plus $200 for stays. He will want less than $1400. So you can see my predicament 🥲
-
• #33
so you're saying it's +$2900 for nice stays? 🧠
-
• #34
Buy it! And get the terraplane model as well ;)
-
• #35
Only gonna see the stays when it's propped up against a wall, won't see em when you're riding. Less than 1400? Bargain.
-
• #36
Ha, yeah. All very valid points. They're supposed to ride nicely though. Anyway, yeah, not worth that much money.
Chorus cranks finally also ordered. Sub compact. Which I totally deserve living where I do. Will finally stop using this Praxis Zayante's - which I only ever acquired for use with a Shimano group but just carried on using them with Campag.

Sub compact.
Are you mad? Is that 48/32?
-
• #38
to be fair this one looked chefs kiss with very compact road cranks
-
• #39
Yes. Small gear goes from 28.46gi to 26.29gi. Which I can absolutely make use of.
-
• #40
Nice, spin2win!
-
• #41
It might be $4300,- but getting featured on Prolly is priceless.
-
• #42
I'm just disappointed Campag offer sub-compact rings.
Proportions look well off on that purple one.
-
• #43
classic contrarian voice sub compacts look better than oversized / standard rings, they're cute 🤷♀️
-
• #44
can't you buy this one and send it back to Kirk for terraplane stays to be added? best compromise for cost getting closer to what you would want in an ideal world? (you can also sort the paint job out)
-
• #45
I don't think it would be a very classy move to be like: 'please don't build me the frame I put the deposit down for. I've purchased a used one. But will you please rebuild it into how I would've liked a brand new one?'
Would make more sense in that case to just buy a new one.
-
• #46
Ah, yeah - didn't read you'd put a deposit down...
-
• #47
Something I'm never gonna have to concern myself with.
-
• #48
Needs tweaking fit wise, literally haven't measured anything yet and haven't fully indexed the derailleurs but I like it so far. Wouldn't choose black bars and stem though I think it looks okay considering it's a 1" headtube. If I keep the frame I'll probably go for a Ti stem.
Hopefully will get a ride in on it tomorrow.

I am surprised that FD could go all the way down for sub compact!

Looking good so far. Ti stem would finish it off nicely.
Are those the trp 957 brakes? Would like to know your opinion of them, I'm currently considering upgrading my brakes, and it's them or the VO grand cru calipers.
It’s just good to have a build on the go I reckon. That’s why I’ve ended up with so many bikes.
