  • Soldering spade connectors is completely the wrong thing to do. Crimping is the way to go, using a "special" crimping tool or just using any form of pliers would do the trick.

    I always use some heat shrink tubing covering both the wire connection and spade to prevent shorting. But NOT heating/shrinking the part covering the spade, just shrinking around the wire connection. This so you can still easily slide something in and out of the spade without the heat shrink getting in the way.
