The hard plastic ones were marking up my floor (hence the cardboard mat) and felt shit to move around on. These are larger and have bearings, so less resistance and the clear rubber doesn't mark the floor.
Although I've spent the last hour slowly drifting away from my desk. When my office is done there will be a rug to help with that.
